Kansas Gov. Brownback Down By 8 Points

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politi...y.html?hpid=z3

"GODDARD, Kan. — Gail Jamison, a lifelong Republican, voted for Sam Brownback for governor in 2010 believing he would restore school funding that had been greatly reduced by the recession.
Four years later, she has joined with more than 100 prominent Republicans in publicly throwing their support behind Brownback’s Democratic opponent — because, she said, Brownback pursued a hefty tax cut for the rich that deprived schools of needed resources.
“I am shocked by what’s happened,” said Jamison, president of the Board of Education in this Wichita suburb. “I find it personally a very extreme stance.”
As he runs for reelection, Brownback is finding that what he once called a “real live experiment” in red-state governance is struggling to produce the benefits he had promised, spurring an increasingly competitive gubernatorial race against state House Minority Leader Paul Davis (D). His troubles also provide a case study of what can happen when single-party control — now the norm in most states — combines with the sharp rightward shift of the Republican Party."

It's looking bleak for Brownback in Kansas. Maybe Ohio should follow suit and dump Kasich.

Kansas' economic tailspin (and/or Brownback's defeat) will do little to temper the zeal of Reaganomics proponents.

Jesus Christ!

She voted for a Republican to restore school funding?

It never ceases to amaze me how fucking stupid some voters can be.

If Brownback is defeated.

I wouldn't count on it.

Kansas turns out about a million votes in a statewide election.

Brownback is down 8%. That comes to about 80,000 votes on election day. That's not much of a margin when you consider that citizens united will enable outside interests to pump millions of bucks in money to run negative ads against his opponent between now and election day.

There will not be another Republican President in my lifetime or yours.

I have a call into our county election commissioner (appointed by Brownback) to enquire why, after 30 years of having the same polling place, since Brownback was elected our polling place has changed every election. You wouldn't know it but for a little post card sent out about a month before the elections.

I suspect its' so people will not be able to find the voting booth come election day.

It would be interesting to see whether the moving of polling stations is related to the demographics and voting trends of the district.

It would...but I imagine the Brownback appointed commissioner will tell me that.

The area is in a old established lower income part of town.
