Funding the Terrorists by buying their oil!
With the Terrorist now having the ability to sell captured oil from production facilities. I wounder just how are they able to sell it. For me allowing them to sell the oil is bad on so many levels. Seems a blockade or seizure to be in order at least.
But once again shows the short sightedness of the human condition.
Would there even be a care here if the US was able to function without their oil?

They can't sell it directly into international trade channels. They mainly sell it by the truckload, I figure. There is a local market, everybody needs petrol.
Capture enough places and/or pay enough people, and product can flow through pipelines....

Yeh, we should only buy oil from Saudi Arabia, a paragon of virtue and enemy of terrorism (other than 9-11 and support of ISIS, of course).

Catch 22. It demonstrates our dependence on their oil, in that we continue to put up with their deadly (and insanely greedy) crap, simply to get our hands on it. If anyone doesn't see the path we're on in these regards, they are as blind as a bat. We made a deal with the devil in Saudi Arabia. Not only do we continue to fight wars and sacrifice lives to the oily beast, we kiss his ass.
Without it, our high flying, (Yet steadily declining.), lifestyle comes crashing down.

Yes it is obvious that someone has to be funding them. Maybe not the government, but Saudi Arabia is looking the other way while the Middle East is becoming unstable.
And Barney just contrast American involvement in sub-Sahara Africa with our obsession with the Middle East.
I have a feeling if ISIS becomes such a threat that Iraq goes the way of Somalia and another huge base of terrorism develops events may have to force our hands whether we want to or not. It may come down to letting Iran control (or save) Iraq as the lesser of two evils. And assuming Iraqis are happy with Iranian intervention in general is naive, but in the current situation it may be necessary.

Saudi Arabia (along with Kuwait and Qatar) is funding ISIS in its proxy battle with Iran and its Shia friends (Syria's Assad and Al Maliki).

So, if we were energy independent and didn't rely on their oil, could we just pack up all our troops and people and send them home and not care what goes on over there any more?
Simplistic thinking, I know... But it seems our involvement will never end in their battles as long as our greed for their oil continues.

We would still have the ""Holy Land"" and the Israeli's to worry over!
But yes take away the oil money and they would be less of a pebble in our shoe.

I think the real issue everyone misses is that region is so rich in oil but the fruits of that bounty has not reached down to the level of the people that join ISIS.
They have been robbed by the powers that be...and this is the result. I do not know how else to explain it.
