Romney Won the White Vote Almost Everywhere

If only white people had voted on Tuesday, Mitt Romney would have carried every state except for Massachusetts, Iowa, Connecticut and New Hampshire, according to the news media’s exit polls. Nationally, Romney won 59 percent of the white vote, a towering twenty-point margin over Obama. (Exit polls were canceled in nineteen states by the consortium of news media that run them.)

The pattern is not limited to the South, with its history of racism and segregation. Even in the deepest blue states, white voters went for Romney: 53 percent in California, 52 percent in New York, 55 percent in Pennsylvania.

White men of course were more likely to support Romney than white women, and old white men the most likely of all.

What’s the matter with white people—especially old white men? They used to run everything. But their share of the electorate has been falling steadily: twenty years ago whites were 87 percent of the electorate; this year they were 72 percent. Could it be that they resent their loss of power in a country that is becoming more racially diverse every minute? The rest of America wants to know.

I have to love these exit polls, I votred in every election since I was registered and in every Primary And have yet to be asked question one.

Having written polling questions my comment on all polls is 'You tell me what result you want and I will write the questions to guarantee that result'.

If you are waiting for these two seniors to vote for a Republicant whatever you do don't hold your breath.

+1. I've never been approached at a polling station and if I was I would tell the pollster where to stick their clipboard.

I never have either, but I still believe that Romney got the majority of the white vote. I mean all you have to do is go to any Republican meeting or event and observe the sea of pasty white faces.

What the Right gonna do now that a majority of the "White" vote is not enough to carry national elections any more?? Change and start to accept others into the party?

Or, watch how they trot out every "black conservative" they can find and proclaim that persons existence as evidence that they are not racist.

If they have to go to such lengths...............

I almost feel sorry for those black conservatives having to put in all that overtime doing photo-ops with them.
