DNC Chair: Superdelegates Exist to Protect Party Leaders from Grassroots Competition

In other words, it's rigged.

http://truthinmedia.com/dnc-chair-su...s-competition/

Quote:
Democratic National Committee chair and Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz explained the motive behind the Democratic Party’s appointment of unpledged delegates, also called “superdelegates,” who are former party leaders and elected officials who are allowed to ignore the outcome of primary elections’ popular vote totals and instead vote for the presidential candidate of their personal choice at the party’s nominating convention.

“Unpledged delegates exist really to make sure that party leaders and elected officials don’t have to be in a position where they are running against grassroots activists."

Here's a good article from Nate Silver on this issue.

Doesn't everyone know this? The superdelagates were created after McGovern got clobbered, to keep 'another McGovern' from ever happening. From the establishment POV, Sanders fits that description exactly.

Fab insight, Don.

This is a solid thread from inception.

The intent is patently clear.

Regarding DWS's comment: she should have worded that better. Hillary's in trouble, and this is only going to make it worse.

In that vein, we could revisit your 'set in stone' prediction that Jeb (?) Bush had a lock on the Republican nomination scant months ago, right? Glasshouses, my brother.

All bullshit aside, TJ. Did you read the article or are you on autopilot when it comes to Hillary supporters like myself and that one other guy on this forum? The article shows how Clinton's lead in 'super delegates' is an illusion, same as it was in '08 against Pres.Obama. Is it a thumb on the scale? Sure but as DonQuixote pointed out but it's nothing new under the sun. Super delegates are fungible and plus we Democrats haven't really had a contested convention since '32, iirc.

Here's how I see it, after seeing the first black President in our history light up the White House in rainbow colors in celebration of our LGBT brothers and sisters getting their equal right to marry, I'd love to see the first grumpy old Jewish cat from Brooklyn in the Oval office for the sheer pleasure of watching WASP America lose their shit daily over the tie dyed curtains and free concerts in Lafayette Park every weekend, it would be epic!

By the same token, seeing Hillary in the White House? The rightwing chattering class wouldn't know whether to shit, go blind or start talking in tongues while spinning on their backs with Hillary in charge (and Bill giving them the finger from the north portico of the White House while smoking a fat one and playing his saxophone).

I could go on and on but it's late and I want to watch Bill Maher, Killer Mike and Margaret Cho smoking a fattie on the old TV machine. All Berniacs, btw.

Peace.

That's all for show.

The real players, the owners of this country, as George Carlin used to say, they will be happy as pigs in shit with Hillary in the White House. Once in a while they'll let a few crumbs fall off their table down to us and let Hillary take credit for it while they fake outrage for the audience.
