It could be argued that negative ads may work even better among the less astute. That said, no hard-core Red-stater would vote for a Democrat anyway. It's all about the independents. Again.

I don't see how anybody can be an independent these days.

Unless they are just totally uninformed.

There are no good Republicans left.

All the moderates have either been driven out or "reprogrammed" into hard liners.

Whether you like/understand it or not, 43% of Americans identify as Independents.

Speaking for myself, I find it liberating not having to tow a party line or defend either party's inevitable moments of stupidity.

I consider myself a Democratic So************************t like Bernie Sanders.

But I hate the fucking Republicans.

There is a saying at Florida State where I went to college.

"My favorite team is Florida State and whoever is playing Florida."

Applying the same logic, my favorite Political Party are the So************************ts and whoever is running against the Republicans. That's why I have no problem rooting for the Democrats.

And all are entitled to vote.

And it leaves you having to assert that Jameis Winston was as pure as the driven snow.

OK, I googled it.

Shit, I haven't followed football for decades.

I grew up.

I couldn't even name one player in the NFL now that Ray Lewis has retired.

And the only reason I knew who he was was because my son wrestled him in High School.

Here's the way I see it.

If you say you're an Independent that tells me that you might be open to voting for a Republican. In today's world, that is, IMO reprehensible.

And I know that fits you because you are on record as saying you might vote for Kasich. The anti-union dude who doesn't think teachers should have a break room.

This is not the Republican Party of old. There are no Lincolns, Eisenhowers, Roosevelts, or even Charlie Crists left. They've all been driven out or "reeducated". Nothing is left but crazy radicals.

I generally agree with your assessment of today's GOP, though I'm not as enamored of today's Democrats as you seem to be mostly due to their squishy fecklessness.

However, I still remain somewhat a fan of divided government and am not overly fond of the notion of giving total control to either party. For the time being, I'll likely be voting Democrat, but that could change in the future if the GOP ever gets its shit together (I may die first) and the Dems go totally off the rails with their squirrelliness.
