The headline is somewhat misleading as the letter was written by a group of entertainment people from Spain. Trust Hollywood to come up with a timely distraction.

Penelope is backtracking a bit on the use of the word genocide related to Israeli action in Gaza.

This, of course, makes little sense unless we're saying unjustified military activity is less efficient than ovens and extermination is to be measured by degree.

Either way, the goal is the same.

I am not taking sides on this since both parties are in the wrong. Gazan's elected Hamas, a terrorist organization whose main goal is the destruction Israel. Israel wants to live in peace and yet covets Palestinian territory. There is infighting between PLO (Fatah) and Hamas. There is a strong anti Israel sentiment brewing in Europe. Is being opposed to Israel's actions being anti-semitic? End of the day there will never be a palpable justification for the carnage carried out by Israel in Gaza.

Actually, it's a different "they." For the most part, it's liberals who cry racism and conservatives who cry antisemitism.
