I find it interesting that this new For Profit prison system is spending millions to defeat marijuana legalization. More criminals, more profit, no rehabbing it just cuts profit. It would be interesting to see where these prisons are besides Florida which is full of them.

State contracts with private prison companies often include clauses covering guaranteed rates of occupancy, often as high as 90%. So, if a prison isn't at the required capacity, the state (or you and I) pay for the empty cells anyway.

This smacks of the sort of 3rd world class corruption that is used to fill work contracts from prisons filled with folks on bullshit charges that couldn't afford our pathetic for-profit justice system.
