Wasn't that the Dem plan too, but new and improved?

Yeah, okay, a little over the top.

A little upset there Eddie?
And 60 votes in the Senate WAS power. Now 59. And the Dems sure didn't do anything for me.

Impossible! Taxes won't be low - we've got a lot of debt.

Once again Sandy I'm impressed at your sense of balance. But Wow. Wow. What an amazing time in politics. We'll have to try doubleplusgood to keep our heads, it'll be a hard time to be civil.
How long has it been since there's been a fistfight in Congress?
If you'll excuse me, I've got a country to ruin lol.

I would be very gentle with those crows my friends, you may well be eating them come November.
First, Collins and Snowe have been taking a bit of flak from their voters, folks in Maine are an independent lot and they no more enjoy being screwed by big Pharma and the insurance briberey (Lobbyists) than you or I.
Second; So Ried just puts the bill to a vote, the Republicans filibuster, and filibuster until the public get thoroughly pissed with them and the vote takes place - all it needs is 51 votes, so up yours Mitch.
Third; If people in this country are as stupid as some believe (I don't) then they will bring the GOP back for four more years and you won't have a country left to talk about, maybe Mexico will annex it for you, I won't care because I will be somewhere in the Maritime Provinces.

As long as they are made here at home, had a burrito over in NoVa once, figured they forgot to remove the hooves, thought I would die.

I would bet every dollar I have that the Republicans will *never* lift a finger to do anything about it. I'd love to be wrong about this, but I fear I am not. They are *not* going to start over. Anyone who believes this is more deluded than I am.
We had the one shot we get. Took 15 years to get back to here.

You think the people I saw on CNN who said they "voted against 'Socialism'" would have been more keen on government run single payer?

The Republicans and the Heath Insurance companies started a campaign of lies about Canada and England before the debate ever started. They lied to the American people and their punishment for their lies is sending more of them to Washington.
Wake up America. You did it again. You voted for the people who lie, cheat, steal and mislead you to disaster time and again. And you celebrate after you've done it.
If they don't figure out some way to get this deal through, there will be no Health Care Reform. If you think the Republicans will do it you might as well pray for ice watter in Hell. When have they ever even suggested that they might do something about it- Nixon is the last I can think of.

No. I'm a lot upset. I fear that I watched the American people turn down the only real chance of fixing this mess in my lifetime. Hope you enjoy your rates going up and your coverage going down year after year. The only shot and doing anything about that was shot down last night.

Eddie, what makes you think that forcing MORE payers to donate to private insurers or face fines is a great idea? Sounds like something Republicans would ask for so why on earth would they not push the idea, immediately after calling their stock broker to buy up health insurance stock.
Where would the fine money go? General fund perhaps? How convenient.
The way I see it is that everytime the government meddles in peoples lives it seems to make things worse? Want a great example? WELFARE and it's generations of families living off of it laughing at us working stiffs for paying their way.
My $.02

Translation "I voted against my own best interests". Our schools have failed, most Americans would not recognize a socialist if one bit them on the arse.
