Indeed. Jews controlling Israel is a predicate for the second coming of Christ. In other words, fundamentalist Christian support for Israel is a means to an end (i.e., their own salvation at the expense of the Jews).

I'm serious Dave. I haven't heard a redneck say anything negative about Jews in a long time and when I was a kid, that was common to hear.

Come to think of it, it has been a few years. I recall hearing the phrase "Christ Killers" back in the day. Sound familiar? Didn't some idiot like Falwelll or Robertson blow that one out of his pie hole once?

Anyhow, I still don't believe it's born out of any affinity for Judaism, I think it's a love affair with the idea of Israel and how it fits into Jesus Round Two.
