That was the first phase of the Iraq war. The subsequent phases didn't work out so well. The only winner of the Iraq War was Iran.

I don't think the goals were as rational as 'wanting power rebalanced.' Iraq, intact, was a nice counterbalance to Iran. It was PNACs irrational quest to bring back old-time imperialism. The 'balance of power' was going to be big US forces based in Iraq perpetually. And we'd steal the oil.

Kuwait benefitted tremendously, and actually greeted the USA as liberators (with roses even).
The USA now has military bases all over the Middle East that didn't exist prior to the war with Iraq. All I'm saying is that they seemed to have achieved their objectives.

I don't either, but I recognize it as pro-Putin apologetics, a whataboutery defense. Says US worse based on PNAC stuff. PNAC awful, but that doesn't make Putin any good.

Kuwait was liberated in the first Gulf War. It was Dubya's war 10 years later that was the shitshow.

I'm just curious; are you aware that every time you type 'Dubya' in the possessive form (dubya's) instead of an apostrophe, I see the HTML code Dubya’s.
It's sort of intriguing; is it done as a joke ?
OOOh, it's tapatalk I guess.
