Like Erik said it is like the US needs to police the entire planet. And spend endless money trying. How long can it go on before we just cant print any more money?

It's time for their one semi-responsible patron, Russia, to step in and straighten this mess out. Their other patron, Iran, will obviously do nothing of the sort. If we could just immolate their chemical weapons stocks from the air, I'd be OK with that. Otherwise, phuck 'em. Assad has killed tens of thousands with conventional munitions. I'm not sure why a few dozen more with Sarin gas changes the equation.

It can't go on much longer. The sad part is that some want to hack SS and Medicare (Claiming these things are "Welfare handouts".) long before we cut funding to support the MIC.
I guess this comes down to one very basic question;
Should we take away from the wellbeing of our people to feed the MIC?
I say no.
Look, I have served in the military. A lot of people in my family have served. My family is full of both wartime and peacetime veterans dating back to the Revolutionary war. I do NOT hate the troops, I do NOT hate my country. I do NOT want to weaken America.....................
I just want America (Us) to take care of our own FIRST. I want the military, like anything else, to live within it's means. To do the best it can with what we can reasonably afford to give it, without taking from our poor or our elderly. The days of the blank check to squander on whatever new adventure strikes our fancy needs to go. Rambo can just grow up and get the hell over it.
I told a retired Navy friend of mine recently, that "...the military works for the people, not the other way around.". This made him very angry, I haven't heard from him since. Believe me, that hurt. But, life goes on and I still stand by that statement.

I'm all for taking care of our own here but the handouts need a line as well. There are just too many people out there living on the system, a few that I know are part of my very extended family. We don't talk because I can't stomach the shear abuse of the welfare system. They don't want to work, they just want to sit home, play video games with their four kids and collect. They abuse everything from government handouts, to disability, to frivolous lawsuits.
Not to get off topic because that is a whole other can of worms. I'm sure we will be involved in Syria if not headlining. Hopefully it involves only air strikes and keeps our troops off the ground.

I don't know anyone like that. I had a nephew that was on the dole for a while, but he was struggling with his mentally ill wife. He simply could not leave her to her own cognizance. They have since gotten her problems under control. It took a few years but hopefully it's done, and he has gone back to work. That's the only one I can think of off hand.
I hate to see our young people marching off to war again. I believe the greatest disrespect we could ever foist upon our "troops" is to put them in harms way frivolously. It really does bother me.

Oh boy, invade Syria, then invade Indegestitan, then Iran then cry like a baby because you have to pay taxes for it, then decide to use your grandma's food and winter heat money instead.

We ain't going to touch Syria with a 10 foot pole.
We may have to send troops to Israel should it face an existential threat however.
We have been printing money going on 70 years and have been completely off the gold standard since Nixon. The only thing that backs are greenbacks are faith. Everyone stop believing Paul Ryan and Glenn Beck right now. We need infrastructure and stimulus now.
Or else we going to have a double dip.

I wonder where we would be with McCain calling the shots, just a scary thought.
