“Given our own history with intelligence assessments, including intelligence assessments related to weapons of mass destruction,” a senior administration official told reporters Thursday, “it’s very important that we are able to establish this with certainty.” WaPo
What are you advocating, JB? |
From what I've seen, it was that chickenhawk Eric Cantor trumpeting the red line crap.
“The administration has confirmed that the Assad regime in Syria has crossed a dangerous, game-changing red line,” House Minority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said in a statement, which called on members to attend a classified briefing Friday morning." http://www.washingtonpost.com/politi...y.html?hpid=z1 Edit- forgot to pin the chickenhawk appellation on that weasel, Cantor. |
Time to stop being the worlds cop.
|
"We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilised. That would change my calculus. That would change my equation."
-Obama |
See post #2, Was.

Time for the Arab League (Turkey) to step in, methinks.
You've hit the nail on the head, Erik. We've done enough damage playing cop. |
Don't fret Bob, I can see all the posts.
Just pointing out that Obama drew the line in the sand, Cantor just pointed out that the admin acknowledges it's been breached. |
Quote:
The official indirectly referenced the flawed intelligence assessments about Saddam Hussein's programs of weapons of mass destruction in the lead up to the Iraq war as justification for caution. "I'd say that given our own history with intelligence assessments, including intelligence assessments related to weapons of mass destruction, it's very important that we are able to establish this with certainty and that we are able to present information that is airtight in a public and credible fashion to underpin all of our decision-making. That is, I think, the threshold that is demanded given how serious this issue is," the official said. "But again, I think nobody should have any mistake about what our red line is... It is absolutely the case that the president's red line is the use of chemical weapons or the transfer of chemical weapons to terrorist groups." From JB's third linky |
Feinstein says it's "pretty clear", line's been crossed. You wouldn't doubt Diane, would you?
