I saw part of the Mass today and felt just a little shitty about being Catholic. At first I thought Christ had come back and been crucified again.

As a Catholic...I was shocked NOT hear the mention of Joan (his first wife) as a mourner (she was in attendance) If anything... for the childrens sake According to doctrine...She remains his wife. Things have changed. But I did enjoy Placido Domingo and Yoyo Ma.

I thought the main guy did pretty good. Was he a Bishop, or Cardinal? I'm sure he will be forgiven all his sins, it just seems odd to me that the church made such a big deal, what with his view on abortion (murder in the eyes of the church, or so I thought).

Where was the separation of CHURCH and STATE. It sounded like a political rally to me....praying for health care passage (Lord hear our prayer) and other political issues? Hubby said...money talks. I didn't watch all of it...munchkin grandsons came for lunch.

No doubt it will play through the week. And before all the critics start...we're Catholics scrutinizing the handling of what used to be a somber, respective, family experience in the Catholic Church. Not an acadamy awards event.

A political rally??? You're kidding???

They did it with Wellstone, why should this be any different. The Donks are bad about displaying a corpse to score political points...IMHO pretty tacky, but it works for them. And I'm sure Teddy wouldn't have minded.

Did the same thing here in Missouri when "Saint Mel" was killed in an airplane crash..."he was busy doing the peoples work". And it did "work", his vidder beat Ashcroft in the election.

A little info on what really happened. Mel was leaving a fundraiser in St. Louis, on his way to another fundraiser in the Bootheel. One of his boys was flying the plane, they left during a severe thunderstorm, and his kid wrecked the plane.

Then his family sued the airplane manufacturer, claimed the "artificial horizon" wasn't working. The manufacturer settled for a little over a million to make them go away. Personally, I think if his idiot son would have had enough sense NOT to take off in a thunderstorm (I believe at night), or they had hired a pilot who knew what he was doing, St. Mel would still be around. And Ashcroft would probably still be the Senator.

Doing the peoples work my ass.

Chas

I had a great respect for the Kenedys and particularly Ted and when I read your post it just reinforces stereotypes that I don't want to have in my head.

Suggestion, look at the positive in life.

Then don't read my posts. They are MY opinion. I am not going to consider your thoughts or what your feelings will be about them before making them. You have a problem with women? You are very tolerant to the men who make posts here. I suggest you re-read your posts on Sarah Palin. I'm here... accept it.

You don't need to consider my feeling, you never have and I would never expect it. I did notice that you expect different. Why?
You may want to check the spirited posts between Twodogs, Eric and myself before playing a victim.
When I ask you particulars, you are insulted. When you are rude and I respond you are appalled. When you post what I consider intolerant fault finding stereotyped posts I will call you out. Clearly you want to vent one sided superficial "opinions" and for me to praise them. It's not gonna happen.

I will continue to read your posts and respond as I see fit. There is no need to become upset when I ask a question. No one else here has. As I said before I question to learn and indeed I do.

As to Sarah, I have never had such contempt for a politician. She contradicts all that I have taught my children. It's not OK to have a kid at 44 knowing the risks, it is not OK to get pregnant in high school. It is not acceptable to not know basic science, history and culture. It is not OK to use your family as a prop. And it is not OK to close your mind to knowledge.
I will challenge her or anyone who displays such traits and wants to represent others.

I am glad you are going nowhere but I do hope you stop feeling the victim while trying to hold me responsible. It was not I who responded out of anger and posted sincere Pm's.
Facts are facts, no one stands up to more challenging posts here than I do.

Anyway, I know by now you don't understand but I sincerely wish you the best and hope you stop taking differing opinion posts as personal.

I don't see where you're out of line at all.

BTW, has anyone else ever been to a Masonic funeral? Very simple, lots of ritual, they give the deceased name, a list of his accomplishments, and an adios. They say nothing good, or bad, and treat the great and not so great the same.

Very even handed...and once the Grimm Reaper calls, we all truly will be the same.

Dead...it's coming.

Now re-read my post. It was about the changes in the Catholic Church.

Not meant to reinforce stereotypes that you don't want in your head!

I suggested you not read my posts if that's the outcome of them.
