Exremism in any cause is usually self-defeating.

However, right now, there is a world wide Jihadist movement against everyone. There is no comparable worldwide campaign seeking to impose christianity with violence.

As soon as these MFers take over an area.....here comes sharia....hands chopped off....girls and women under vicious attack etc.

If you include the various anti-government counter cultural groups, the PLO and groups from Europe (like the one Carlos the Jackal was in) it has been a very long time unless I am just not remembering recent attacks or missed reading about them. And including the PLO in the left camp may be debatable. Anyway the last attack I can think of right off hand as from the left is the Lockerbie bombing if you can consider Libya to have come from the left. That was in 1983.

I am not saying extreme leftist groups are good....but it seems like the attacks against America since the 90s have come from Al Qaeda or from anti-government people (Mcveigh) or individuals like the Unabomber. And of course 9-11

I think that is what was so radical about BH's idea that OWS could have done it....we just do not assume that attacks will occur from the left. Things have changed. I am sort of thinking of the Sybianese Liberation Party and Patty Hearst when I think of this......that sort of terrorist group seems not to attack us anymore. Am I wrong?

I did not google anything.

Floyd Corkins 15-aug 2012

A man who confessed to the shooting of a security guard at the Washington offices of the conservative Family Research Council (FRC) pleaded guilty of the crime Wednesday, explaining in court that he brought a backpack full of Chick-fil-A sandwiches with the intent of making the attack into a political statement

In the cultural zeigeist of our times, attacks have become associated with groups that do not come under the umbrella of "left wing". Maybe the demise of the USSR had something to do with it.

FWIW, it's no more legal to torture an enemy combatant than it is a conventional prisoner, even if Sean Hannity thinks so.

And, it's because of the 4th Amendment.

So, I have mixed emotions about it.

My primal side wants to bash his head in with a rock.

My civilized American side wants to follow due process.
