That's my two cents.

You've allowed yourself to be drawn in and become emotional over a contrived issue.
You've taken sides in a media driven frenzy, based on information gleaned from...the media.
I realize that you've been watching the trial, but it seems apparent, at least to me, that you're viewing it through the prism of your preconceived notions and personal biases.
In other words, your mind is already made up. And, the best I can tell, it was made up even before the trial started.
Now I'm not trying to give you a hard way to go, much less insult you...I have my notions and biases much as everyone else.
But in this case, the only information I really have comes from the talking heads and various other partisans...so I feel that since I don't know what actually happened...the jury's still out. It's not to me to pass judgment...particularly at this time.
Kind of a roundabout way of stating the obvious, but when combined with "presumed innocent" I'd just as soon let the process take it's course.
And to be honest, I don't think I've ever seen the scales of justice become as bastardized as in this sordid political, and media driven non event.
This has the possibility of becoming a real shit storm, and our betters should be trying to diffuse the situation instead of stirring the pot for personal gain.
Have you never been wrong...I have. Even on this forum I've allowed my emotions to draw me into a dialogue which was none of my concern...and I've said things that I later regretted. Being blind drunk didn't help...but my emotions were the problem, the alcohol the catalyst.
I suppose my current statements could also serve as a sincere apology for past indiscretions...intentional or not.
And while I'm on a roll, allow me to point out that by asking for for forgiveness, however sincere, in all actuality what I have done is to forgive myself. I'm a selfish bastard whenever you get right down to it.
I think I'll just cut it short right here...as my mind's right to whoop up a sermon that would have Billy Graham crying in his beer.
While tempted to delete this entire post, I think I'll just leave it as a testament to rambling insanity.

I would think that this alone would convince most anyone that the circus is in town and the clowns are the ringmaster.
The best I remember, this was a local problem which was pretty much settled, until the DOJ stuck their noses in it, as, IMHO, a blatant attempt to interject not only the various aspects of gun control, but race as well into the public discourse during an election year. And the media, including Faux News, were more than happy to oblige them.
As always, feel free to correct me. But try to do so in a rational manner, inferring that I'm no more than ignorant, coon hunting redneck bastard isn't what I would call correcting the issue, even less a viable argument.
I freely admit, I may well be in error as to what actually happened that night as I was not there. And I hope that justice is served, even if the hang "Zippy" by the balls. Then again, if it is determined that "Zippy" was innocent all along, and was dragged through this disgraceful process of a show trial, I hope he sues everybody and their dog...right down on the line. And wins.
After all, "Zippy" should be afforded justice as well as Trayvon should.
I see that as only fair. Much as I see anyone who gets all bent out of shape and begins to froth at the mouth over this dog and pony show as being played for a fool. Actually, I'm a fool as well, for expending over 15 seconds of my time and energy into this particular discussion.
Well, those few sentences should make me about as popular as the herpes.

Fox is definitely infotainment, MSNBC isn't a whole lot better but at least they're showing a lot of the trial live with the occaisional break to sell soap. The other networks, CNN, ABC, CBS etc. haven't impressed me with their coverage of anything for years. I prefer to get my news from WaPo or the LATimes because I can at least read it and re read it a few times, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.
I'm happy with the attention this case has received because without Rev. Al and others, this punk Zimmerman would be still walking around Sanford strapped and feeling more entitled to accost anyone he felt was "suspicious".
Let LEO's do their job. IMO concealed carry permits should be very hard to get. You should have to show that someone is actively threatening you or you need to be strapped for your job, i.e. you're carrying large sums of cash or someone's security guard. Now we have any paranoid knucklehead with a chip on their shoulder strapped. It's crazy. Remember that idiot on the subway in NYC?

No worries, Charles, I try not to take too much of the back and forth around here too personally.
As to the news coverage, for my own sanity I use the mute button or if the missus hasn't filled the DVR, I record the coverage so I can FF through the color commentary and the commercials. I don't need to have some well coiffed talking head pissant telling me what to think or interpreting what I should believe.
I'm enjoying a little Buffalo Trace with a little purple Kush right now so who knows if I'm making much sense... Time to go down to the beach and see if the fish are biting, methinks.

I've figured out where I'm going wrong.
I'm running live bait too high and too slow in the water column...I'll never connect.
I need to be dragging the bottom with artificials just as fast as I can go while keeping it there...that's where the reaction bite is.

No better lesson in humility that being too stupid to fool a fish.

I fish the jettys and the beach for the most part around here. I need to tune up my heavier gear and get on one of the cattle boats and go deep sea fishin' and get some meat while working on a nice beer buzz...
