Since when did speaking out against something you don't believe in, in Kerrys case the Vietnam War, become un-American?

Or, is it only acceptable when teabaggers do it?

Sometimes the best thing you can do for "The Troops" is stop wasting their lives and bring them home.
It beats letting tens of thousands more die just to persue an elusive or unobtainable victory.

Regards,
Dave

I think what Pete's trying to say is that, if Kerry had really burned his medals, he would have been down with that.

Speaking of Kerry, wasn't his flip flopping enough to keep him out?

Romney makes him look like an ameture flip flopper......how can you support that?

If he really burned his medals, at least he would've had the courage of his convictions.

The left lapped it up didn't they?

I still would see him as a turncoat, of course. But an honest one.

I see-----pandering to the anti-war crowd. So, he's a politician. What's new about that? Romney protested in support of the war, then ran off to Paris to ride around on his friggin' bicycle knocking on doors, annoying the French with his stupid religion.

Maybe that a**hole should have joined the Marines and showed us how strong his support really was?

Regards,
Dave

Kerry was there and put his life on the line for his country. Who cares what he did with his medals.

Goodness what a close race. Looking forward to going to the polls tomorrow.

May the best Republican win!

Why? What's all turncoaty about making a symbolic gesture in opposition to a government policy? The medals weren't "symbosl of the nation" but recognition of an individual citizen's service to the country. Burning them (or, really, tossing them over a fence) is a legitimate form of protest since the medals were his property, earned through his sacrifice. There's no other legitimate interpretation.

So, Pete, answer me this. Is demonstrating against Obamacare also being a turncoat?

No?

How about demonstrating against Obamacare with an AR15 slung on your back or a Glock strapped to your hip?

These are merely doing your patriotic duty, right?

John

I have this sense that I actually saw news footage of VVAW protesters, Kerry among them, throwing their medals over a chain link fence that had been erected to keep them out of the Pentagon(?) or some other gummint building.

Dave, as you and I know, you can have multiple sets of award ribbons and medals so you can set up multiple sets of dress uniforms, whites and blues in your case and khakis, greens and blues in mine. The fact that Kerry can produce a set of medals now after throwing medals away is a non-issue.

The fact that people who weren't even born when Kerry made this gesture can get so het up over it just shows how effective Right Wing propagandists are at "playing base" - better than Paul McCartney!
