Agreed, not the job of government. Nor is steriods in baseball, or any of that.
As for the second sentence.....Boxing has ALWAYS been corrupt and around as a major sport for what, a hundred years or more? The "market" doesn't care about corruption.
If it did, would we still have WWF?
I'm just sayin'.

This is stupid and I love boxing. It has always been rigged.
I prefer the lighter weight fighters. More energy in the fight. You can tell when the fight is real. It is the only reason I subscribe to HBO.
The gubmint needs to get it's nose out of professional sports. It is what it is.

I suspect this is Harry Reid trying to save boxing from itself as many (most?) important boxing matches take place in Nevada, including the Pacquiao vs Bradley bout. I'm not sure who I hold in greater contempt - professional boxing, Reid or McCain. Actually, I am sure it isn't professional boxing.

That was my point. If it doesn't have anything to do with people fighting, Old John doesn't seem to care.

Kind of hard to believe, looking at him now. But you're right....he was.
I used to race bicycles, once completed a 100k race in under 2hr-50min.
(Pictured below, circa 1997.)
Now my fat ass can barely make it around the block without my knee blowing out on me.
