Senators Pushing Bill To Eliminate Fraud In Boxing

 Give me a break! Here we go again with our Senator John McCain doing the peoples work with the help of Harry Reid.
The fact that Pacquiao is a Congressman in the Phillippines, not to mention he's the one that LOST the darn fight makes this a sham.
Again, our great hero, John McCain being bent over by a Dem. This time by maybe the most partisan majority leader ever who is trying to protect his multi-million dollar casino special interests. Here we go again with bigger government compliments of the "conservative", Senator McCain. :http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...tml?xid=si_mma

On its face, I don't like the idea nor do I like what became of John McCain in the past several years. That said, if it is to survive, boxing may need to be saved from itself. If trust and accompanying interest in the sport goes down any further, the sport will be dead and gone in favor of MMA. Accordingly, the contents of the proposed legislation calls for:

...all referees and judges participating in a championship or a professional fight lasting 10 rounds or more would have to be fully registered and licensed by the commission. A sanctioning organization could provide the names of judges and referees it considers qualified for that caliber bout, but only the commission could appoint judges and referees to participate in the matches.

I don't find these requirements particularly onerous and threatening. Then again, I really don't give a sh!t one way or another. I'm not sure why McCain does.

And there ya have it... +1

Until we can get the Coliseum I could care less about boxing or MMA! I wan't thumbs up/down or it's all bullshit. No need for a bunch of scoring or judges then.

And on a side note, how can Harry Reid (or any other Mormon or Catholic for that matter) still be in the Mormon church and vote as he does. His tithe's must be extra large ;)

Couldn't care less about boxing, or what tha doddering old man is up too. He needs to retire and go hang out at the VA hospital with the rest of the PTSD crowd.

Fraud out of boxing? Yeah, right!

More BS from the senate.

This is not the job of government. People are intelligent enough to learn whether or not decisions are poor and the sport will eventually lose its followers and income stream. BTW, I have noticed much more sportsmanlike behavior in the MMA than in boxing. I gave up on McCain after his first run for President.

Could they not make better use of their time by combatting fraud in government? They could outlaw bribery (lobbying) for a start
