It's one thing to tweak the regulations to clarify which jobs and job duties might qualify for and exemption from the FLSA's OT provisions. IMHO, those tweaks made it more difficult to exempt many jobs from OT.

It's quite another to order your Sec'y of Labor to expand the payment of overtime by any means necessary.

George Bush tried to make Federal Workers be paid on performance based evaluations in the DOD and Intelligence Agencies....some bullshit called NSPS. If you received a real low evaluation one could lose location pay...in my case 20% of my salary. Conversely a very high evaluation and you get a bonus. Yet evals are subjective and written by people who cannot get fired.

Obama ended that.

the NSPS not the job security lol

Easy, they are put in charge of babysitting a few people making 15K annually and put on salary. That way they can cover shifts for those who don't show up and actually make less per hour than the hourly employees.

With HHS, IRS and Treasury issuing rule-making and waivers, the plain language of the law is being ignored. But, since no one in Congress seems to care, and sine Dems stood up and cheered during the State of the Union when Obama stated he planned to circumvent them, I guess no one will challenge this.

Latest example: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/14/us...-pay.html?_r=0

There is this thing called the Fair Labor Standards Act that determines when and how overtime is paid. But, if a Pres has a pen and a phone, who cares?
And that act is not worth crap. When we were first married Florence was manager of a 7000 sq ft dress shop. She would put in 10 or 12 hour days and never got OT. One day she made the mistake of asking me what I thought of her job. I suggested she tell them to shove it. Then the area manager spread the story that he had to fire her because she was having problems. I called his boss and offered to give the little fart the horse whipping he deserved at high noon in the Mall. They trasferred him out of the area and eventually closed the shop (for the simple reason we found all the good staff jobs elsewhere.)

Face it this country does not have any worthwhile labour laws, they still believe that bond servants are legal, and you know that Mike.

Yeah, all of that crap is just another BS game for the wolves to play and yet another yoke around your neck.

Tell that to the Dems that passed it, ratified its various amendments over the years, and the Labor Unions who would fight to the death with anyone who would try to repeal it.
