In incorrect words.
Again, the resources of the state belong to the citizens, not the government.
Every dollar that has ever come in from the oil and gas industry belongs to the people. The government confiscates that wealth from the citizens. That is not a free ride.

Then I don't think you understand soshialism. Soshialism advocates for state ownership and control of major industries. Not at all what the Alaska constitution lays out.
In Alaska, each and every citizen shares in ownership of the resource, not the means of production or the industry or the distribution.
The biggest indicator that we aren't soshialist is that every citizen gets an equal share, not "according to need or ability".

It doesn't sound like strict capitalism either.
I guess where we disagree is the amount of blending that is appropriate.
I'd rather my dirty blue California tax dollars didn't flow north to Alas-ka while you guys get a fat gubmint check every year.

Then I don't think you understand capitalism either. Private ownership, that's what we have in our constitution, right down to the natural resources. The gov role is to see that it's divvied up equally.
Once in a while they manage to get it right, like back in the 70's when a couple smart-ass lawyers tried to argue that longevity should factor in to who gets how much dividend. It failed in court as unconstitutional- all citizens are equal shareholders.
Most of the time they get it wrong, like when they build multi-million dollar schools in all the remote villages with 2 digit populations, or subsidize a losing scheme to sell barley to the world, or investing in a failed airline (Markair), or investing in a mothballed "clean coal" plant, or failed lumber mills, or failed shipping ports, etc, etc.

If Alaska were the epitomy of soshialism, we'd be rioting in the streets like the Swede's at the suggestion of government cuts.
Most of us here have been looking for government cuts for the last 20 years.

While bitching about those Permanent Fund checks shrinking? Seems a bit hypocritical.

Once again, how is it fair to the rest of the nation that Alas-ka residents get a check while we fund infrastructure in your state?

Fair? Who said anything about fair? Did your momma not tell you life isn't fair? Guess who put you in that position? It wasn't the citizens of Alaska, it was your beloved government, and you by your choice of place of residence.

And who's bitching about the PFD checks shrinking? They've been going up the last few years, but most folks understand the returns vary based on performance of the investments. I've seen them as low as $800 and as high as $2K.
The bitching is about the government wanting to steal it.
