I've noticed that a lot of them are successful people. I can say that I've met very few that didn't impress me with his/her intelligence and drive. Never had a problem with them at all. There were two Jewish families in my neighborhood when I was a kid, very nice people. Tilli Darak, one of my mothers best friends, was a Hungarian Jew and a camp survivor. She once told us; "When they break out the flag waiving and the brass bands, then tell you you don't love your country if you don't go along. That's when the trouble starts." This is why you may often see me express mistrust of "flag-waiving" and a suspicion of overt and excessive "patriotism", which I see as something completely different than "love of country". Love of country is a genuine emotion and usually a good thing. Tillis reference to "flag-waiving" is something entirely different.

One question, though, Flac. Why do so many Jews seem so "liberal" then?

I'll give you examples of the new anti-semitism tonight. I'm pressed for time today. But I agree that random acts of patriotic flag waving are troublesome. But then so is seeing the UN flag waving over the City Hall of my old Cal. home town.

The political alignment of my tribe has generally been because of overly zealous TOLERANCE and a belief in the leftist VICTIMHOOD mantra. Whereas I may be a rabid supporter of someone's right to choices in life, my Jewish clan actually believe in validating those choices. Carrying tolerance to a level that I personally can't achieve. You'll find a predominance of Jewish names in the Labor movement, in the Freedom Riders list, and even (unfortunately) in the roots of the Trotsky/Lenin/Marx movement. The latter is particularly troubling to me because I've debated several neo-Nazis online and they won't let go of the fact that JEWS were largely to blame for Communist movement. But to use that one as an example, their choice at the time was between a Czar who used to love riding calvary into Jewish Russian enclaves for sword practice and the "new movements". We find ourselves siding with the "new movements" (say Progressive) all the time, because anything old and structured and powerful is a threat. And of course, we are the original party of VICTIMHOOD and fall right into your philosophy that most people (not you!) are too stupid or unfortunate to be functional without dictation from above.

But there is less and less of a SOLID left constituency to be gotten from the "jewish vote". We've gotten slapped back by the black leadership we helped put in power (hymie town Jackson, FarahKhan, et al) and sold out by powerful Dems like Carter (on Israel). So as a result, you see a real solid political split today. Measured by groups like the Jews for the Preservation of FireArms which is more adamant then even the NRA...
