SO, for the folks on the left, this is a two headed issue, if I'm getting this straight:
1 - Fluke and company should be unfettered and unrestrained both in their behavior and in free access to birth control meds. In saying this, while there were a shortly list of individuals identified with health care issues, Ms. Fluke has no health issues. Her desire for access to publicly funded birth control is for contraceptive purposes.
2 - Limbaugh's behavior was over the top in implying that her behavior was not unlike a prostitute. He said this in an effort to illustrate the absurdity of her claim and did not call her a prostitute directly. But nevertheless, his behavior was beyond the pale.
So, let me ask a couple of questions:
1 - Ms Fluke is in the public arena now, willingly taken there by Ms. Pelosi and company to be made the lefts straw dog in the birth control "non-issue" the Dems are trying to saddle the Repubs with during an election cycle. Since she is now in the public arena - and as I understand was a bit of an activist at Georgetown - why should she be exempt from criticism? And if you want to take the position that "she's really a private citizen and not an elected official, therefore Limbaugh's comments were out of bounds", then isnt' this really just selective indignation? Certainly you're aware of over the top language by entertainers on the left directed at unelected opinion leaders on the right.
2 - If Ms Fluke can shell out for tuition, books and fees at Georgetown, why shouldn't she shell out for her own contraceptive needs? is it really Georgetown's or the taxpayers' obligation to keep her from procreating?
3 - Is Ms Fluke a single mom? I ask because I don't see any mention of children? If she's not a single mom, then I'd suggest her own efforts to fund her own contraceptive method of choice has been successful up to this point.

Birth control pills should be treated no differently than any other prescription medication. Once a woman and her doctor have determined that it is advisable for her to use such medication, IT'S NOBODY ELSE'S DAMN BUSINESS WHY SHE NEEDS IT.
Perhaps you missed the part where Limbaugh said that he wanted Ms. Fluke to make a video of sexual acts for his entertainment purposes. That is the type of "criticism" to which one exposes herself by making public statements? Limbaugh's comments would be out of bounds if the subject of his pathetic rambling were the Secretary of State or the Governor of Alaska.
Do you ever tire of making moral equivalences? Why should what anyone else did justify the perversion demonstrated by Rush Limbaugh? Are you really taking the position that she deserved what Limbaugh dished out?
Would your position be different if the person testifying was a married mother of two children, who worked and struggled to make ends meet and whose family is in no position to add another person? Those individuals would also be denied access to this prescription medication if their employers got the special treatment they seek.
Bottom line: there is a prescription medication that prevents pregnancy. Pregnancy is a condition that requires medical treatment - and can change the course of one's life. This is a condition that only affects women. By what moral authority do you or anyone else have the right to single out this medication for exclusion from all other medications available to enhance the health of individuals?

D-Ray

If she doesn't like the policies of Georgetown, she should have went to school somewhere else.
That's the way I do things.

May I ask??? If a pregnacy was ill advised by a doctor because of a medical condition...could the man responsible for such... be charged in that case with endangering the health and welfare of the woman? And ( indulge me here) if the woman died... could he be charged with murder...manslaughter?
Much easier to take pregnancy out of a medical condition category and simply put it where it belongs...IMO reproduction warranting medical supervision

So she should just shut her mouth and be happy that they honored her by taking her tuition and fees?

If pregnancy is ill-advised, all the more reason for her to have access to a contraceptive.
As far as the man's responsibility for reckless endangerment - there would, at a minimum, be a requirement that he was aware of the risk to her health - but even then, she would be a co-conspirator. If she was not a co-conspirator, we're talking a whole different crime.

Erik,
I usually like you, but your drifting further LEFT with almost every post ?
I have been placed in the RIGHT category, and if that is the category of personal responsibility, I gladly accept it.
It has never been stated that we were perfect, only responsible for our mistakes.
Liberals on the other hand are sick, they have a sexual addictions, a drug addiction, an alcohol addiction, a support yourself addiction, an addiction of taking personal responsibility, an addiction for everything to do with anything addiction. I can now see that Liberals are not only Parasitic, but destructive Parasitic creatures. If they can't make since and win, they try to defame, destroy or distort the facts. While I have a few liberal beliefs, I refuse to become a Whining bag of So************************t Piranhas consuming everything and everyone in their path.

Everyone seems to have forgotten or is simply ignoring the fact that Ms Fluke was going to testify about a classmate that had a medical condition. Apparently she was susceptible to cycts growing on her ovaries and the pill was known to prevent this. Absent access to the contraceptive I believe she lost both ovaries. So now instead of ptentially becoming a mother somewhere down the road, she will be childless.
Oh, BTW Congressman Issa refused to let her testify because she is not a member of the clergy. So folks WTF happened to seperation of church and state, or do y'all only wave the Constitution when it suits you.
Maam to answer you hypothisis if the man knows that becoming pregnant will harm or may even kill the woman but goes ahead and impregnates her anyway is he guilty> Not by any man made law that I know of but I suspect he will have to answer to a higher authority. If the woman in question was a family member then he would answer to me and I am not a particularly forgiving man.
