Newton Leroy vs. Willard Romney
Sounds like an old horror movie.

I'm not seeing that. My general impression of young people is that despite being disenfranchised with the political system, they are still very strongly standing on the side of progressives.
If republicans have their hopes set on getting young voters, they have to being significantly more moderate on social issues which the party has shown they have no interest in. I also suspect that the tea party actions over the last couple of years will probably scare a few people the other way.
As far as Obama goes, while I don't think he has been as effective as some have hoped, the lefties arent quite buying the right wing propaganda machines messages about him, either.

I was hoping Newt would walk over and slap the shit out of the poor dumbstruck bastard. Can you just imagine Newt standing over him saying "Get up, I dare ya punk". It's shit just like this (the moderator leading with a horseshit story) that has our election process beyond repair in my opinion. Young vote? I thought the ones in college voted like their liberal professors told them, and the poor inner city ones vote for the free money guy.

And, you don't think the GOP is overselling a bit? They seem to have a whole lot of people convinced that all it takes is to have a Republican in the Whitehouse, ANY half assed Republican, and we'll all be riding high in no time.
Where is the basis for that?

I have some good dicussions with my nieces oldest son on Facebook. He is in his third year of college, (Majoring in geology.). He's a Ron Paul guy, but, he'll tell you quick that he is surrounded by "Obamasheeple", as he calls them. They chime in to heckle him mercilessly.
So, based on my own personal observations; It doesn't look like the John Birch Society is picking up many members on campus.

From what I been seeing and hearing around here, it will be more of a vote not really for but against the other candidate. Most wish that there would of been better choices to choose from.
So it may all be in who turns out their base in the general.
Back on Newt the brute, I love it now he is exposed as the person I always knew he was. Laugh when I hear all the the talking heads defending or making excuses him now. We all know there is plenty more info to come.

[QUOTE=David Newman;86498)
I'm still not convinced that swing voters who went for hope and change are willing to think that hope and change can come from the group that caused the desire for hope and change to begin with.

LOVE it!

You know, I hate when you guys make me smarter. After reading your post, I realized that I really didn't know the John Birch Society well enough. Did some research and learned a lot. Sound like my kind of guys!
