In a snowstorm, both off the road because DC had 24" in 24 hours. Became pen pals then began sending talking tapes, then tried to make AT&T and Bell Canada rich. Finally proposed while at a meeting in Geneva Switzerland.

Next decision was who goes where, finally decided to try summat new, found a jpob here in a week and came down on an H1B visa, married and the rest is history.

Prior to proposing all we had was a handshake when we left the hotel. We spent the night sitting in the lobby in two straight backed chairs the night clerk dug up for us, most people were sitting on the floor. They closed the bar and restaurant at 2:00 AM, weenies, in Quebec they keep the bars open all night under such circumstances. If we could not drive did they imagine the liquor police would be out? The did serve breakfast the next day and that was when we exchanged addresses.

For you, the latch string is out. Yeah it does seem like summat Hollywood would have come up with in retrospect. Whatever, I am just glad it all happened.
