Do you now, or have you ever worked in manufacturing? I have, almost my entire life. Save for my time in the Navy. And, I come from a family of factory workers, management, engineering and blue collar.
From what I've seen, incompetent management kills a factory quicker than any politician could dream of. Even the high tech, world class type of factory. Put a dumbass in the plant managers office and kiss it goodbye. Jimmy Hoffa couldn't kill productivity with such lightning speed. And it usually starts with "cost cutting", yessiree..........
And there is a universe of "other people" to be blamed when it happens.
|
Not that much in Silicon Valley where I was deep into MANY companies and their manufacturing lines. Usually died from the idea or concept being bad or not enough support from engineering.
Management incompetence WOULD BE tho -- a better excuse than blaming the "free-traders". And in that case, perhaps we deserve to lose because our "moron" filters are not working right.

He did everything he said he was going to do?
As far as 2012, we'll see. I seem to remember a nobody coming out of Arkansas in 1992

I think it's becoming harder to build a campaign organization in a short time than it was in '92.
I also remember some late runs by Gary Hart and Jerry Brown. I can't recall one since then.
Regards,
D-Ray

We don't "deserve to lose", but, we will because our "moron filters" are only set to blame those at the bottom. Whilst the truly destructive idiots just move on to wreak their destruction upon other businesses.

This is now the umpteenth time you've said this, Pete. I'm having a hard time understanding why you, a Republican, are upset that Obama hasn't (yet) fulfilled every campaign promise. Did you cross party lines and vote for him, expecting he would? Campaign promises are aspirational, not blood oaths.
In fashioning your response, please reference any other successful Presidential candidate who kept every one of his campaign promises.
Harold McMillan, Prime Minister of England (1957 - 1963), responded to the following question from a journalist "What is most likely to blow governments off course?" His response "Events dear boy, events."
In a similar vein, events are what make great leaders IMHO. Lincoln and FDR would not have been considered great leaders without the Civil War and WWII, respectively. Similarly, Dubya's response to 9/11 defines him, and his misadventure in Iraq will be a millstone around his neck for decades to come (unless somehow it transforms itself into a Jeffersonian democracy, of course. I'm not holding my breath).
This fact (events make the man) is what has the GOP apoplectic about Bin Laden's killing and scrambling to diminish it (or take credit for it). Their whole narrative about who Obama was (is) was dashed on the rocks of western Pakistan.

I assume that was in response to my post BlueStreak.. Actually, I got a good picture of the top folks who seed the "tech start ups" in Silicon Valley. These venture capital guys put it all on the line. If you rescue an "at risk" company, you get a pass for doing one dumb thing to jeopardize another company. But when you get 2 strikes against you --- NOBODY is going to fund you or put you on the team.. So my Silicon Valley experience is that the "guilty" morons get adequately filtered. Any profession should work that way. Doctors, lawyers, Senators.... (just dreaming about that last one).
Now I'm sure from your perspective, in more mature companies, (not start-ups or fast moving tech), there's probably an unlimited supply of moron baggage just hanging around. I've seen that too. Too many bushes to hide under there. Almost as bad as a major Federal Dept. LOL..
Management has to be leaner and more focused to get accountability. If the line workers are being blamed, then management is totally inept and incompetent. Its their job to make the processes and goals in line with the ability and motivation of the staff.

Silly Pete:
As a Repub, you just don't understand that campaign promises are worthless tripe and that your campaign motto is much more important.

In political campaigns, whatever works is important (within the limits of the law, of course).

Finn, I'm pointing out that in general Obama is FOC. Not my doing...
Bush's legacy is yet to be decided.
