There are many posts in this forum by people who claim that they are "more American" than the next guy because they have the "one true" belief on politics. Then when asked for specifics as to how they formulate their views they have no response, just an implied blind belief as with religion.
Where does this arrogance come from?
Why when responded to in kind do they implode and become accusatory and feel victimized?
Debate is good, sharing views is good.
Having the one true unquestionable/unexplainable view is only divisive.
IMHO of course.

Noonereal dinna let it get to you, my comments here, especially in relation to health care stem from a simple belief - we can do better. I believe that any nation's greatest natural resource is its people. It follows that we should look after that resource. The nation benefits when everyone is running at peak performance, no? Out of 23 industrialized nations being in 23rd place with regard to its citizen's health is hardly what I would call bragging rights.
Florence and I worked hard for what we have, a nice home sitting on almost 4.5 acres of prime real estate. If some illness takes me out of the picture I want her to be safe and sound here, not have some zealous bunch of interns or pols decree that I be hooked up to every gadget GE has invented to prolong my suffering and line their pockets. They tried that with the poor woman south of here despite her and her family's wishes. Terry something, name escapes me, guess CRS kicked in.
The Republicans talk about government coming between the patient and doctor, what did they think that was, fortunately that politician has retired.

Noon, I'd like to respond, but I'm not in the best of health, just discovered that I'm suffering from TKD.
I'll get back to you when I feel better.

Many options are available fo you or your health care proxy to choose from.
I know...its like everyone wants to go to heaven but NOBODY wants to die to get there.

I'm kinda like Woody Allen- I don't mind dying, I just don't wanna be there when it happens...Seriously, though, having watched my 2 granmothers SLOWLY check out-at 102 & 104, & my granfather going in about 3 weeks or so, at 94, "The Long Goodbye" route is for the birds. One granny fell, broke her hip at 96, & was actually closer to 103 when her body finally decided to throw in the towel. Her mind pretty much was gone when she broke her hip...The other granny broke her hip, too, at 100, but her mind stayed reasonably sharp up until about 6 months before she died at 104.

I'd like a pill when that time comes. Oh, and also a couple shots of Absynthe to go with it

I am unaware of any other method of having a shot at heaven, besides there are many, many animals waiting patiently at the Rainbow Bridge for our arrival. Now I need to go and check on the five cats.
