16,000 layoffs at Amazon last Monday (I believe this was just AWS) and not the ecomm and another one planned in two more months. My niece has survived two cuts so far paid me a visit last week and I asked her how could people work in such an environment simply waiting to be laid off. Not surprisingly they do very little work and she said the management does not care either. Its the promise of AI bounty along with billion$ being invested in AI infrastructure that is driving these layoffs and once they lose their jobs, chances of finding another one is almost impossible. Not sure what is in store for the highly trained software professionals in the US since a lot of these jobs are permanently eliminated.

And then for good measure Bezos laid off about 300 from WaPo staff yesterday eliminating entire sections from the vaunted newspaper.

Most Americans Hate Trump's Tariffs
A new poll finds that even white men without college degrees, a key voting constituency for Trump, don’t approve of the president’s handling of the economy.

...yet these same white men without college degrees still support the ass. Dumb as rocks.

The job market was bruising in 2025. The start of 2026 doesn't look much better.
Recent data releases paint an uninspiring picture for job seekers heading into the year.

Thanks Bob. Trump's world is now same as Bezos world.
$75 Million homage to Melania for one evening of glitter.

A third of WaPo let go albeit generous exit handshakes gutting entire departments. The leadership was mostly ex UK/Rupert and Lewis was let go last week.

Wondering what will happen to the iconic WaPo for us long term readers, there is still NYT. Time to switch to Guardian but I just renewed my WaPo which is on auto renewal.

Hey Raj, I was able to get a pro rata refund after accusing them of delivering a different product than advertised/ accustomed to.

Fuck the NY Slimes and the LA Slimes, too. I read the Guardian but still hesitant to kick any money their way.

Of course we will.

Have "Conservatives" in charge, again........run it up, give tax cuts and then blame the Dems for the mess they made. Nothing new here to see.
