On December 14, 2025, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported finding two deceased persons—a 78-year-old male and a 68-year-old female—inside Reiner and Singer's home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, around 3:30 p.m. The identities of the bodies were not immediately reported.[39] Shortly afterwards, it was confirmed that the bodies found were Reiner and his wife. Senior law enforcement officials report that both had stab wounds,[40] and their deaths are being investigated as homicides as of December 14, with Reiner's son alleged to be the killer by several news sources.[41][42][43][44] Their bodies were reportedly found by their daughter.[45]

Sad to see an extremely talented human being and his spouse murdered mindlessly. He enriched us with both his movies and his contributions to our society and for his life to end like this is utterly devastating.

I first came to know R.R. as Mike "Meathead" Stivic on All In The Family. I'm not up on such things so I didn't know he had such a large body of work.
