Fifty year home loans you bet ya!

Think many of the MAGA's are lining up for them now....

Must be planning on living to a hundred plus.

Or never paying it off.

Like ... renting.....

Why not, sounds good to me and probably sounds even better to the lending institutions who are hurting with high mortgage rates and not enough buyers though home prices have been dropping in 2025 both here in Reno and Bay Area.

Remember back in the 70's when 10 year car loans were available for Mercedes cars and this seems like a replay for home mortgage.

You have to hate the idea of building equity to go for that. Any hiccup in the housing market and underwater you go!

Better get that home before you turn 30 and forget about trading up.

True, but with corporations owning most rental homes, this is a better bet since the mortgage payments stay fixed whereas rents keep climbing up.

Having a home paid for before retirement is one of if not the most important steps to undertake and plan for.

Just how stupid they must think the populace is. Getting a loan knowing in the back of their minds it will never be paid back. But then once again it came out of the mind of one who has a history of bankruptcies. This is a big win for banks and lending institutions. Realtors will love it also.

Solid point. It is akin to stable affordable rental.

Home ownership has other cost besides a loan. Taxes, insurance, maintenance HMO fee's....

I can see over buying getting in over your head, a illness job loss change. Kids collage any number of issues that life tosses in to keep it fun.

Getting upside down and having to walkaway from the property that by this time is in poor shape. Leaving the holder of the loan with it back.

Sometimes regulations are there to protect you from doing something stupid....

Plus always love it when people I know very well.
Who rob Peter to pay Paul.
Have bankruptcies borrow from 401K never to pay it back.....no life insurance... Buy that fancy new car take the big vacation....

When these same people tell me one with no debt how to handle money....

The affordability is so stark now that some people are prepared to eschew the traditional.

Fixed payments but in a rental you have a landlord who pays for repairs, maintenance and property taxes.
