MSM is avoiding reporting on the GOP induced Government Shut Down, seems Caroline Leavitt is getting PO'd at the questions, the WH is backing off on their threats to shed Federal workers permanently. In short, chaos as usual with no one answerable to the situation while Speaker MJ is keeping the House away on paid vacation while the Epstein documents release decision still awaits a decision by the House.

The Supreme Court has turned down Ms. Maxwell's appeal so she is awaiting a "get out of jail free" card from Trump and while already residing in a halfway home.

Al Jazeera to the rescue:

White House reverses Trump claim firings have begun amid gov’t shutdown

Quote:
Since the shutdown began on October 1, several services have been suspended as agency funding has run out. Others face a funding cliff. That includes the $8bn Special Supplemental Nutrition Programme for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), which could run out of funding to provide vouchers to buy infant formula and other essentials to low-income families within two weeks.

Federal workers deemed “essential” have remained on the job, but face working without pay until a resolution is reached. Military personnel could begin missing their paycheques after mid-October, advocacy groups have warned.

The agencies hit hardest by furloughs include the Environmental Protection Agency, the space agency NASA , and the Education, Commerce and Labor departments.

On Monday, US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the government has seen “a slight tick up in sick calls” from air traffic controllers in certain areas since the shutdown began. That could lead to disruptions in air travel, he said.

Now the admin is hinting that government workers laid off will not receive back pay.

Whaddya know, of all the resident MAGAts in the House, MTG is making the loudest noise regarding the shut down, Obamacare and the Epstein files. WOW!!!

Quote:
Now, she’s on what some Republicans see as a media blitz from hell.

She’s torching the speaker’s shutdown strategy in cable news interviews, siding with Democrats to call for extensions to health care subsidies, and supporting an effort both Johnson and President Donald Trump oppose to force a vote on releasing files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“My district knows I ran for Congress trashing Republicans,” Greene said in an interview focused on her recent clashes. “They voted for me because they agreed with that. My district’s not surprised.”
My first reaction is that her district does need the healthcare subsidies and/or she has not made much noise lately since Trump has had the echo chamber all to himself.

By now, I think we can call this the 'GOP Pedo Protection Shutdown'.

The alleged leader of the house, Mr. Johnson won't seat Arizona's newest member of Congress, Ms. Adelita Grijalva who was overwhelmingly elected a month ago.

Her vote kicks off some voting to release the Epstein Papers. Something the Trumps seem to fear for some reason.

Some democracy we have here....

Why is this thread called the GOP shutdown? Wouldn't it end if either side just gave in to the other side?

Is it the GOP shutdown because the majority won't yield to the minority? Some democracy we have here.

The Republicans do have the votes to pass it now. All they need do is suspend the Filibuster threshold.

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5...blican-debate/

There was in the not to distant past the ability to do bipartisan bills. Not the way it is now. The presidents way or the nothing. The signist hint and the President throws a temper tantrum and so on....

You'd think that if going nuclear was an option in this case, they'd have done it by now.

""Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., is the lone Senate Democrat who has voted with Republicans each time to reopen the government. He pointed out that Republicans had just changed Senate rules last month to advance Trump’s nominees.

"I think we probably should. If you're able to get out of the filibuster to prevent either party to make it a lot harder to shut the government down, I’d absolutely support that," Fetterman said.""

Funny how when the Republicans are in the minority they cry "Compromise, compromise, we must have compromise!". When the Republicans are in the majority the word compromise isn't even in their vocabulary. Funny huh?
