The 50% tariff imposed by Trump on India because the Modi government is continuing to buy oil from Russia is getting to be interesting. According to reports, India is buying a third of Russian oil exports presumably at below market rates and chances they are paying in USD which Russia desperately needs. I just don't see an amicable ending to this since Indi is more dependent on China and Russia for their imports than the US, but the 50% tariffs can also seriously impact their exports mostly impacting the low wage sector like carpets and textiles.

Modi is in China with Putin and Xi now figuring out how to create a bipolar world in reaction to Trump's all or nothing approach to trade and alliances which could well backfire.

^^If I consider the countries that I am more informed about, there is nothing that unites China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan and India. Except for China perhaps, they are all broke or economically dependent on other countries. So this is all for photo ops but Trump will bite especially after he sees this picture of Putin walking hand in hand with Modi with Modi in lead. Even Lil Kim will be attending the bromance in Tianjin, China. And let's wait till Xi has his military parade, any bets he will needle Trump to no end?

The August jobs report released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) showed that just 22,000 new jobs were added to the economy last month, far fewer than forecast and the latest sign that the US labor market has cooled in recent months. The unemployment rate rose to 4.3% last month.

Economists had expected the report to show 75,000 jobs were created in August, with the unemployment rate forecast to rise to 4.3%, according to data from Bloomberg.

In July, the economy created 73,000 new jobs, but those figures were revised on Friday to show 79,000 jobs were created during the month. Revisions to June's data, however, were more negative, with those numbers now showing 13,000 jobs were lost during the month, the first outright monthly decline since 2020. Revisions in early August had brought June's job growth down to 14,000.
