USPS suspends package service from China as Trump’s tariffs kick in

This actually has very little monetary effect but is going to throw a wrench into Chinese eCommerce since they sell/ship directly under the "de minimis" exception for goods under $800.00, the reason being that there is no collection mechanism. The shipping companies will not want to touch the tariff collections with a ten foot pole either if asked to collect. So this is effectively a ban on the importation of direct sales from China to US customers unless FedEx, UPS or DHL wants to step in but for now, they are excluded from the de minimis exemption I believe..

Looking to see if a thread opens up on AK to discuss this and I am not a fan of Chinese clones but did buy a Topping DAC at the introductory price (and no sales tax) when they first came to the US market.

It's like the debate, where time and mental bandwidth prevented an opponent from detailing all the things wrong with what Trump was saying. Only now what Trump says aren't just words, they are policy, they are orders.

My fellow Americans. We are wittnessing tRump's scuttling of our democracy in real time. His man Muskrat is illegally taking over federal agencies despite never having been eleceted, vetted or approved by anyone in Congress. The only agency with the authority to stop him, the FBI, trump wants to put his loyalist at it's head. Every person the Felon has appointed to a federal office has refused to say that they would not carry out illegal orders or directives from the elected felon. Any Republicn that will not stand up to trump is complicit. Remember when I said the Republican party was at war with our democracy? Right now it looks like they are winning.

I wish I could say I was kidding, but I would not be surprised in the least if this was the end game.

Those people who wouldn't vote for Kamala because she wasn't doing enough for the people in Gaza must be feeling pretty stupid now. Which is good, because they are.
