BASF's Silent Goodbye to Germany. An unsettling tale of economic decline.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/othe...an%20workforce.

The most important drivers for business success aren't slogans and promises, but innovations that first surprise and then delight the customer. The state is the be-all and end-all for political parties, but for businesses, it's just one option among many. That's the big difference: parties like the SPD and CDU only have Germany. A corporation like BASF can simply leave.

That's exactly what's happening these days. We're witnessing a silent departure. Europe's largest chemical conglomerate is investing ten billion dollars in a new large-scale Chinese plant and closing parts of its production in Ludwigshafen. They're hiring new staff in China and saying goodbye to parts of their core German workforce.

Sometimes situations arrive in which a post has to come off topic.

Someone asserting that the US is doomed, fucked and to be pitied, has to be answered within the context of the assertion.
Germany is fucked...no more cheap energy. Now watch the stress on the German social contract.

Yes I believe the admin would sympathize with this instance. You just love when the doom and gloom of US go unanswered.

Who benefits from these large LNG exports? Who is harmed? Do those harmed have any say in economic or energy policy?

Let me try open a new thread on US energy.
BTW I reread your #1 post in this thread and
noticed a recurring theme on Dem issues.

So the Democratic party is promoting export of LNG to Europe?
Is this even practical to ship in large quantities when Russia can pipe it to Europe?
And if LNG is so abundant (I do know NG is), why is most of the eastern parts of the US burning oil for heat and (gasp!) wood?

As for Germany, I am a big fan of German cars and I do not see any other country coming close to VW (Audi, Porsche), BMW, MBZ in personal cars.

Since you mention Democratic party I think I can squeeze under the title of the thread.
For some time now US energy voices have been bellyaching over the fact that Europe especially Germany has been importing large quantities of Russian energy. They felt that the US deserves a good piece of the action in view of US involvement in the defense of Europe re Russia.
Russian invasion of Ukraine gave substance to said view.

Some entity blew up Nordstream and Ukraine now cuts off the Russian transit.
The US export to Europe serves mainly 3 purposes.
1) Expansion of US energy industry.
2) Providing some relief for the Europeans at a critical juncture.
3) Providing alternatives to the Russians thus denying them a measure of income for their military.

So there is a huge geopolitical dimension to energy export which has united Biden, Trump and Ted Cruz.
