No one can 'force a faith' on anyone, and to even make the attempt indicates that the people trying don't understand God.

I'm not an Evangelist; doesn't bother me at all that some of you are going spend eternity 'weeping and gnashing your teeth' in Gehenna (the rubbish burning pit).

Nobody "understands" God. And anyone who claims to is full of shit.

Which God?

They are all mythical and man made without evidence of existing.

Convinced they are in knowing the truths and the secrets of the spiritual realm.
Forget about treating others as you wish to be treated, love for your neighbor sorta stuff do they.
There are many many who have caused much grief and pain over the centuries in the furtherance of their beliefs. Thinking they are right in their evil actions towards those who do not believe as they do.

So what does this say about them?
Their beliefs?

For some it makes the inevitable easier to handle thinking and doing what they do in life.

I do not need the fear of what may or may not be after death. To be a good person here and now is what feels right for me. It sure seems for some it takes a constant fear and pier pressure to keep them doing what I do freely.
Not to stray too far into spirituality but what you describe is what I've been taught. Live a good life while we're here (godly if you will) the rest will take care of itself. I see no reason to force my views or beliefs on others. Personal observation, make bad decisions and it'll eventually bite you in the ass. Personally if I find that there is nothing in the great beyond, so be it. I will have lived a good life and done some good while I was here. That in itself is reason enough.

And it doesn't bother me that you're spending your life believing this nonsense.

Brains are good for logical analysis of facts. Basic beliefs and values have little to do with facts.

I find it ironic that people who quote the 'book' cannot tell me who wrote the book, when or in what language, yet expect me to believe and adhere to the rules set forth within said book.

Gee, does this mean every squirrel, bug, and gnat that has ever lived is either in heaven or hell too?

Must be some pretty full places by now............

Or, is such divinity only reserved for those who deserve it the least? The species with the least respect for all the other life forms on this rock we all inhabit?

Don't worry about other's teeth gnashing, Cat, especially mine, I've already got a job lined up in Hell for when I get there, , , , , , ,

Pitchforking bible thumpers into the bonfire....

(Hmm, might be a better discussion for the "Religion & Politics" subforum here)

Yeah, It's funny how people believe the book. Most, if not all what is written in it was written hundreds of years after the given story taking place, Camels in places where at the given time there were no Camels, which that alone is very telling.
