It took a century (or more) for America to evolve on race, whereas legal acceptance of gay marriage (Obergefell) was recent and sudden.
I would argue that acceptance of Black Americans has backslid.

To paraphrase Hemingway, "Bankruptcy happens in two stages: gradually and all of a sudden."

Likely applies to democracy, equality and justice as well.

You'll get no argument from me. Obama's election was a high point, but it freaked the shit of the type of folks who voted for Trump. Still, it's socially unacceptable, even among Republicans, to say racist shit (though it doesn't stop them). But gay-bashing is mostly still OK.

Looks like JayDeep is more than worried by Kamala Harris.

Quote:
“All of us were hit with a little bit of a political sucker punch,” Vance said about Biden’s withdrawal on July 21, according to a recording of his remarks at a Saturday fundraiser in Golden Valley, Minn. “The bad news is that Kamala Harris does not have the same baggage as Joe Biden, because whatever we might have to say, Kamala is a lot younger. And Kamala Harris is obviously not struggling in the same ways that Joe Biden did.”
Wowsa to say something like this on record.

She's great. She has a very deft way of relating modern day events to historical ones and puts everything succinctly, summarizing yet omitting nothing.

You should subscribe.
