Let's say everybody gets access to revolutionary period vehicles without training or qualification by conditional, otherwise vaguely phrased statute, never mind advanced speedy motorized vehicles didn't exist under "original intent". After a rash of wreckage and injuries/deaths, what can be done to ameliorate the cascading mayhem is thwarted by absolutists whining about "taking our freedoms" and being "the cost of such freedoms", tho the FFs had no possible inkling of fast motorized carriages piloted by irresponsible incompetent unstable drivers.
Is this even remotely rational in an ordered organised civilization?

The United States in it's current state is seemingly losing the ability to be even considered civilized.

When it comes to...
Guns
Healthcare
Public education
Women's body autonomy
Who's fucking who
...completely uncivilized.
Outside of Islam, where women are still having clitorectomies perped on them when they're children, it's pretty much the most uncivilized country on earth. And has been, long before Donald Trump and the seditionist GOP. The US has long been the most uncivilized of all first world nations (with the exception of about 15 years in Germany). Ask somebody from Denmark or Belgium what they think about US gun laws, abortion laws, health care, maternity leave, and it's smfh.
Europeans, who certainly have had to identify many of their own problems, and who have tried to find reasonable ways of dealing with these problems, think we are fucking nuts. They are absolutely fucking right.

Europe isn't as progressive as you might think when it comes to abortion.

Basically two types of practicing Catholics, those who embrace authoratarianism unreservedly, and those who resist or disregard it while embracing their faith.

I'm not calling you a liar. It has become clear, however, that you have some very strong opinions that are often based on erroneous information or are extrapolated from single data points. You'd be wise not get so butt hurt about being told how your conclusions are based on bogus info.

From what I've read, this guy had a domestic violence history. For sure anybody who has a recorded history of domestic violence problems, and anybody who has ever had a court order of protection placed on them, should not be able get their hands on any gun of any kind.

What "red flags"? We don't need no stinkin' red flag laws.

It was a joke, for christ's sake. But yes, I do have some very strong opinions which, like yours are backed up by other opinions. The opinions you buy into are no more accurate than anybody else's opinions in this joint.
PS - I am not butthurt...I enjoy making comments infused with an occasional note of levity. Perhaps you should look into a sense of humor booster.
