This country is so fucked up. And it's not just about racist, xenophobic Trumpism. The reason why the vast majority of EU countries have not ended up with threats to their democratic systems as this country has is not because they don't have a Donald Trump. There are plenty of wealthy autocratic/plutocratic "Donald Trump" types in Europe. It is because those countries don't have electorates that are half full of assholes.

EU countries may appear not to be half full of assholes but that's due to having largely homogeneous populations, unlike the United States.

In EU countries those elements of the population that are disliked because they're different are small in number, don't represent a significant threat to the political power of the majority, and can easily be marginalized by the majority.

I don't think so. The marginalizing of minority elements in populations, typically perped by white people, is not the only issue. An asshole is an asshole, granted, the huge majority of the 46% of asshole Americans who voted for Trump twice, and who will vote for him a third time next year, are racist/xenophobic, religious bigot assholes. But they want a whole lot more than to be able to get away with marginalizing anybody who isn't a European which christian. They marginalize women. They marginalize LGBTQ+ and trans people. And they want to bring down 250 of the democratic process in this country and replace it with some mix of autocracy/plutocracy/theocracy. Every fascist movement finds a scapegoat, here in this country in these times, it's minorities. In 1920's Italy it was communists. In 1930's Germany it was Jews.

You're such a freakin' weenie. I've commented here a number of times that I don't know why Shokin was fired.

I will say this: someone is lying here. Even a dolt like you should be able to figure that out, but since you're programmed by the crap coming out of alternet, I guess I can see why you might have missed this. There are two narratives out there:

1) The narrative as related in the alternet story - Poroshenko fired Shokin on his own initiative, or Poroshenko fired Shokin because the Ukrainian Parliament was going to do it he Poroshenko didn't, or;

2) Poroshenko fired Shokin at Biden's urging/threat because Poroshenko wasn't going to fire Shokin. It was Biden's threat to withhold $1 billion in US loan guarantees that moved an intransigent Poroshenko to fire Shokin.

The problem with the alternet narrative is that, as you've previously stated, Joe Biden is an honest guy. Joe Biden is on video and audio stating that Poroshenko fired Shokin because if Shokin wasn't fired, Biden would see that $1 billion in loan guarantees would be withheld.

Both stories can't be true.
