Isn't It Ironic?

The company who came up with the Marlboro man advertising campaign, Philip Morris/Altria is getting into the inhaler market as it is so lucrative.

So, maybe I should've said, 'isn't it perverse' in naming this thread...

Smoked them for about 45 years and can't go up and down the stairs without being winded. Maybe those assholes at Altria can get me a new set of lungs?

One of the hardest things was quitting that habit for me. Took getting a stint in the plumbing to the heart do finally do it.

It should be run as a non-profit.

I quit smoking about 20 years ago to help my mom quit. Sadly she did not.

Me and blondie quit on the same day 49 years ago after being smokers for a decade or so. We quit early enough to be pushing 80 now and still free of the consequences...which killed both of our mothers, her mom way too young.

We also quit smoking weed and sobered up from all the other shit we were using on the same day. Staying off the cigarettes was the most difficult one.

I always viewed smoking as an awful habit. The smoking of weed even more so because I suspected it had some connection with paranoia.
That smoking had deleterious physical effect on ear, throat and lungs is without doubt.

Paranoia? (who said that!!)

My mom and dad, both smokers BTW had a rule in our house. No smoking until we reached the age of 18. By then I had enough of second hand smoke to not want to touch the things. Neither of my siblings smoke either. The "evil weed", LOL, was another story. I quit simply because I was broke and unemployed at the time. It was either get high or eat, easy decision.

Even though we are not likely to be smoking as many joints per day as cigarettes...

Because of the content of tar in marijuana, and because of the way it is smoked, usually inhaled deeply and held longer, marijuana typically leads to four times the deposition of tar, which contains most of the cancer causing chemicals, in the lungs than the smoking of cigarettes.

I quit in '84 when cigs had just gone up to 85 cents a pack. I knew they'd be $1 before long and that when I said, no more.

I guess there's something to be said for being a cheap SOB.

Smoked a couple of cigarettes and joints years back. Luckily never got hooked and never really enjoyed the experience.
