As DQ pointed out, there are not enough soldiers to enact a forced confiscation of guns in the USA. You're suggesting every gun owner meet with a Psychiatrist in order to get a liscense ? And what; spend six hours taking the MMPI?

Still waiting for your ideas about how to apply "mental illness" restrictions to gun ownership that will prevent mass shootings by the "mentally ill".

I would hope a requirement of a permitting process with training and testing. By skilled professionals. Will help in this matter. Weeding out those with issues once in the open. Tailor the screening processes. Just the added steps involved alone may be enough of a deterrent for a large percentage.

Doing nothing is not working now. The steps suggested may not be sufficient, until tried only speculation.

After the Nashville, TN school shooting, here are some comments from one of the state representatives.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) on school shootings:

"We're not gonna fix it."

REPORTER: "What else should be done to protect people like your little girl?"

BURCHETT: "Well, we homeschool her."

“If you want to legislate evil, it’s just not going to happen,” Burchett said. "We need a real revival in this country. Let’s call on our Christian ministers and our people of faith.”

He added: “If you think Washington is going to fix this problem, you’re wrong. They’re not going to fix this problem. They are the problem.”

So if I am reading him correctly, its thoughts and prayers again. At least he is not mincing his words.
