While I understand the possible negative precedent of Congress releasing individuals' tax returns, Trump and his compliant Treasury Dept. brought this upon themselves. He promised to release his tax returns once audits were completed, but his own Treasury Secretary and IRS Commissioner never intended to perform these mandatory audits and thereby help Trump hide his lawlessness (which was partially exposed by the convictions of the Trump Organization and its accountant last month).

Forensic accountants are going to have a field day reviewing these documents which are likely replete with all sorts of illegal tax fraud.
I am curious as to under what authority Congress can make public an individuals tax returns. I am ecstatic that his returns have been released and waiting on real tax experts shine the light on where and how much he has cheated.

So if releasing Trump's tax returns pursuant to a lawful statutory process is a major invasion of privacy, releasing the contents of someone's entire hard drive that some rando computer guy copied to the entire world is even worse, right? I'm just trying to keep up.
