“shall … when elected, be an inhabitant of that state for which he shall be chosen”.

Sounds like a loophole to me. He can just claim he now lives in GA. Unless there's a requirement on length of residency.
No matter, GA Repubs would vote for a rock before a Democrat. Oh, wait...

He claimed, for a tax break, to be a resident of TX. Can't have it both ways, although of course Repugs will give him a pass.

Calling him a rock is a complement, a turd is more like it.

That would be an insult to turds.

Friends to the left of him, critics to the right: McCarthy’s stuck in the chase

This is going to be a lot of fun, McCarthy feigning both ways to get the gavel. We should never forget what Kevin was going to do with the gavel first.

Quote:
On the GOP leader’s right, conservatives are meeting with House rules officials to strategize ahead of a planned floor challenge to McCarthy during the speakership vote on Jan. 3. Meanwhile, centrist Republicans are making threats of their own to colleagues who’d bulldoze McCarthy — including that they’ll work with Democrats to recruit a GOP speaker candidate more to their liking.

At the Tennessee dinner, members of the state’s Republican congressional delegation gave McCarthy an oversized gavel that said “Fire Pelosi” on it, as photographed by Tennessean reporter Yue Stella Yu.

Well, Karma is a bitch as the saying goes and now Kevin has to grovel at Nancy's feet to get him elected speaker since there are at least four NFW votes from the Freedumb caucus.

Nancy should hand Kevin the gavel and say "up yours Kevin".

It would be wild to see a moderate, sensible Republican get the speakership with Democratic help. The FreeDumb Caucus would go absolutely ballistic.

Sadly, most of those have been voted out of office.

Rep. Ralph Norman, who opposes McCarthy for Speaker, says the FreeDumb Caucus Republicans have a secret candidate to run against him who is not a House member: “It will be apparent in the coming weeks who that person will be. I will tell you, it will be interesting.”
