The foundational assumption of conservative media is that, because big media is corrupt, its antagonists can never quite lose their moral superiority no matter how irresponsibly they behave. It’s not a coincidence that the mainstream media’s most vicious critics on the right are grassroots conspiracy theorists. The election was rigged, the vaccines don’t work, the FBI planted those documents at Mar-a-Lago. The media lies, so you’re free to reject their reality and substitute your own. The wingnut election denial book "2,000 Mules" was abruptly recalled from retailers. When told of the book's allegations against them, one cited group said it was potentially 'libelous." Even the MAGA "election integrity" group True the Vote completely distanced itself from the book. Oops.
