I was told last weekend by a Trumper, "they have the guns and are going to use them if Trump gets arrested!"

Proud of this statement too!

Funny how now the way they are looking at this country,

It is a Republic not a Democracy... Funny just how it matches up with Republican Democrat..... Like the true country and Constitution is a Republic and Democracy is a bad thing. Never was the intent of the framers from what I have hearing.

In any other country, an inveterate liar like Trump who called his own social media "Truth Social" would have been laughed out of town like they laughed at Trump at the UN after his speech.

Yet here we are with the media reporting every one of his words like its "Truth". Truly disgusting to have to read any of his tirades.

After all, he encouraged people he knew to be armed to march on the Capitol.

And there's this nugget from his 2016 campaign.

Repeating his contention that Mrs. Clinton wanted to abolish the right to bear arms, Mr. Trump warned at a rally here that it would be “a horrible day” if Mrs. Clinton were elected and got to appoint a tiebreaking Supreme Court justice.

“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks,” Mr. Trump said, as the crowd began to boo. He quickly added: “Although the Second Amendment people — maybe there is, I don’t know.”

Implicit threats of violence against his political opponents has always been a part of Trumpism. It's now gotten explicit.

When people are driven by fantasies, by resentment, by an internalized sense of inferiority, there is no redemption in anything. Winning elections, burning effigies, even shooting at other citizens does not soothe their anger but instead deepens the spiritual and moral void that haunts them.

An interesting piece from Tom Nichols

On a lonely street in Palm Beach FL, outside of a club they'll never be admitted to, containing such opulace they'll never see they parade up and down, day and night , shouting and screaming, holding their banners high
... and are being watched...
