I'm quite sure she does identify more with Putin’s "Christian" values.

The crop of GOP (Government Of Putin) candidates are saying the most off the rails things to stand above the crowd of other crazies in hopes of getting elected. I look for them to openly solicit Russia's help in future elections if their current efforts to rig the game don't work like they hope.

I think the Covid Offensive is winding down. Time to consolidate the "easily won" gains. The Ukraine on the path to western liberal democracy and NATO membership is now even smaller. A buffer state between the West and Russia is now larger.

ymmv

Carving out a limited buffer could be done without so much loss of goodwill unless the action had more important imperative such as the timetable of the Turkish canal.

One NATO front at a time.

One front at a time. West/East

He is in position to be remembered as the Churchill of Russia.

Is he that smart?

He is smart as to governance, but as to geopolitics?... This needs more than
being smart. Vlad is up against very powerful forces that are coalescing. Forces that fervently believe Russia is inherently inferior and so they become rigid and implacable. Now the danger to the world is if the two sides play "Brinkmanship".

You express well the Russian inferiority complex. We can only hope that policy is made on both sides by enlightened and intelligent persons able to objectively view nationalistic neurosis in all its forms without partaking of it.

Putin Upset to Find Ukrainians Less Obedient Than Trump

https://www.newyorker.com/humor/boro...ent-than-trump

MOSCOW (The Borowitz Report)—Vladimir Putin is “very upset” that the Ukrainian people are far less obedient than Donald J. Trump, Kremlin sources have confirmed.

According to the sources, Trump’s four years of ardent toadying left the Russian President emotionally unprepared for the Ukrainians’ defiance.

“If I wanted Trump to do something, I’d just snap my fingers and consider it done,” Putin reportedly said. “It was wonderful.”

Putin’s entire plan for invading Ukraine, in fact, was predicated on the false assumption that the Ukrainians “would act like Trump,” one source indicated.

“After he invaded, he kept waiting for the Ukrainians to tell him how strong and smart he was,” the source said. “When there were no displays of Trumpian sycophancy, his mood darkened.”

At a Kremlin meeting over the weekend, Putin’s frustration at the Ukrainians for being less obsequious than Trump boiled over, sources said.

“If the President of the United States can abandon democracy and the rule of law, why can’t these people?” Putin asked, pounding his desk.

Because the latter has balls of stone and a spine whereas the former has neither Vlad baby.
