I am willing to bet that Rona DeSantis will be the GQP nominee for president in 2024 and he is positioning himself very effectively as#45's heir apparent. I have read that for all his talk, #45 does not want to be #47, too much work in his own words, but wants to be king without actually having to rule. Perhaps he will offer one half of the Javanka team for VP and we know who that will be.

I think you're right on both counts.

Angry When moderates become obstructionists.

Specifically Joe "Benedict" Manchin and Kyrsten "Benedict" Sinema.
While these two centrists claim they're in favor of bipartisanship that'll never come if the Repubs have their way they're helping those same Repubs torpedo Biden's agenda and his presidency. While Benedict Sinema is channeling her inner Republican by catering to Arizona big business interests Benedict Manchin is afraid that if he doesn't act Republican enough the voters will fire him and get a real republican come 2022. Manchin won WV in 2012 with 61% of the vote and reelected in 2018 with just under 50% of the vote. I can see why he's worried about his future. Sinema held a fund-raiser with business lobbying groups that oppose tax hikes in the Democrats’ main spending bill so we see where allegiances lie and it isn't with the Democratic voters of AZ.

Worried about his vanity, not his future. He's fixed for life whatever happens.

Hope there is still a functioning Democracy after 2022....

Some would say we are not a functioning one already. For some time now...

WV voters hope better know replacing the Democratic Manchurian candidate with a Trump Republican will be a disaster. Loss of power in the Senate would be my guess, just one of the many drones....

If that were the case he could vote his conscience instead of throwing a wrench into the works. The Dems need to make a top priority to flip 2 or 3 more Senate seats now in Repub hands. Pick a few in some "purple" states and go all out in defeating them. With 2 or 3 more seats in hand Manchin the DINO won't be in a position to piss on the Democrat agenda. There are AZ Democrats about to censure Sinema so she may find herself on the outs when she's up for reelection next time around.

Yes, I was projecting reasonable ambitions when that's clearly not what's operating in this case.

Primary Sinema!

Primary Sinema indeed. Maybe the good senator from AZ thinks the big business interests she appears to be catering to will get her reelected? After all she is behaving like a Republican. Girly may have miscalculated.

It's not wise to piss off the people who put you where you are. The voters of AZ may decide to elect a rep less "moderate" next time.

The problem we face is this. If pushed hard to the left, both Sinema and Manchin may switch parties. Sinema is up for reelection in '24 and Manchin in '26. If Sinema loses Dem support, doubt she will get reelected by either party. Manchin OTOH is permanently a lost cause. Dump them both now.

Sinema is behaving as though she's already switched parties and Manchin is doing the Republicans work of stifling the progressive agenda. The Dems desperately need two more seats in the Senate but three would be even better. Sinema has one foot on a banana peel and the other foot out the door. It's a good shot AZ will remain Blue. Two more Senate seats would still give the Dems a majority for when Manchin goes Red officially.
