Not Insane asked if we had scared off all of the conservatives. Now, I know he was talking about this internet site...but, what about the bigger picture?
It seems to me there aren't many real republicans/conservatives left. Or, if there are, they are hiding in closets while the Trump supporters are running wild.
This is upsetting to me because I really believe that our democracy deserves and needs at least two healthy parties. Right now, that is non existent and does not bode well for our future.
I look forward to the return of real republicans/conservatives to the national discussion (as well as to this site) so that our country can heal and move on from the chaos created in the previous administration.

It's brilliant in an evil sort of way, recasting the oppressor as the oppressed. Why not? They've succeeded in convincing half of this country that the billionaire class is horribly exploited by lazy, greedy workers. Why not rearrange history to read that we white folks were victimized by emancipation and the civil rights movement? When you're a soulless bastard, such a thing is perfectly acceptable.

Except if you really think about the last 40 years, it's the "real Republicans/conservatives" who set the stage for this BS. It was 1980 when Paul Weyrich bemoaned the fact that conservatives only win when next to nobody votes...... So, why should Conservatives want anyone to vote?
I think what we're seeing today has been brewing since the 1960s, Goldwater and Nixon.

Must also add the assault on public education undertaken by the right in the past over the years. The rise of home, charter and private schools now receiving tax dollars. There in segregating, isolating controlling the young minds.
Indoctrinating them into religious or beliefs of exclusion rather then inclusion. Building a army of followers who are easily controlled now. Not accustom to being around people "the others" unlike themselves in body and soul.....

And when those Republicans/conservatives and the GQP/POT loons currently driving the party are referred to as the American Taliban they scream bloody murder.

Where did the conservatives go? Cancel culture is trying to disapear them. I believe both sides should be free to state their case and the truth can percolate to the top. But when people are being cancelled, banned, etc. simply because some people "in control" don't like what they are saying, those doing the banning/cancelling are exposing their fear of the ideas of others.
I've been on a LOT of forums since 1997 and, until last year, was a member in good standing on a lot of sites. Nothing in my MO changed, but because they didn't like what I was saying or my links, I've been banned from five. That's all. They simply didn't like what I was saying. A simple example: Mentioning Ivermectin's success was considered "dangerous", so I was banned on one site.
The video below actually sums up what was really going on in political forums and other venues a LOT at the time it was created. The right "owned" the internet. The quantity of ad-hom foisted on conservatives when they would try to give valid arguments became downright comical. In fact, one site that was very much like this one - mostly free for all and mostly leftist - made a rule change: No ad-hominem.
Within a couple of months over half the leftists were permabanned. Some on the right were too, but the site became much more balanced. The smart/old ones on the left learned to avoid personal attacks. The younger ones just couldn't help themselves. Emotion eventually ruled their responses.
So "trolling" became against the rules. And what is trolling? If I post something like my thread this morning from American Thinker, some will argue that it is "trolling", simply because people disagree with it and feel they are being "trolled". I suppose that would be true if you walked into a BLM meeting and said "all lives matter", or walked into a KKK meeting and said, "black lives matter". But this site is not BLM or the KKK. It is supposed to be a bit more free thinking than that, and open to ideas by all sides, where those ideas are allowed to stand or fall by their veracity.
And if one side destroys their position with constant ad-hominem attacks, well, those people are sending a message as well - but they don't realized the message they are sending is about themselves, not those they are attacking.
Anyway, the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWHgUE9AD4s
This video predates cancel culture. In some ways, it is prophetic.

BlueStreak, Oerets, and Ricky,
you make good points. Something like what is happening right now doesn't just come about over night. It takes time and deliberate strategy.

And sometimes trolling really is just trolling. Sometimes the trolls get trolled. Sometimes Liberals and Conservatives get banned because they deserve it. I've been banned from Facebook seven times. I'm in Facebook jail as I type.....until Monday. At least four of those seven times, I deserved it and I freely admit it. Can't help myself. As I will also freely admit, I absolutely despise people who reason entirely by rumor, catch phrase, slogan and obvious propaganda, doing virtually NO thinking of their own. I feel the same way about certain religious cults as well. Every political organization has them but to my mind, I find the Trump camp to be the most heavily infested.
A few questions; Does the march to eliminate racism against racial minorities turn into racism against whites? Or more to my point, when does the cry against this supposed, "reverse racism" or the belief in "white victimhood" become a way to blow smoke, confuse the issue and draw attention away from racism against racial minorities? Do you feel victimized by the NAACP, SPLC and BLM as many Conservatives seem too?
Hopefully, you comprehend the questions as I await your astute replies.
