About the vaccine, I don't get it. #DiaperDon's trying to claim credit for it. He's trying to take credit for the roll out of it. He took it. He's told the cult that it's OK (sorta) to get it. Republican politicians get/got it, but the Repub base doesn't want to get on board with it.

It would be considered a betrayal of their wingnut base if GOP leaders were to strongly advocate for the vaccine (or the vaccine passport). The base (and their leaders) need to maintain a sense of resentment against liberals, experts, medical professionals, epidemiologists, etc. in order to stay motivated. It's all about stoking resentment.

25% of House members, most if not all Republicans are refusing to get vaccinated thus preventing the House from returning to normal legislative sessions. I am sure that these members are not urging their constituents to get vaccinated. Sabotaging the Biden administration from advancing their goals and thwarting economic recovery are strategies they believe will help them in 2022 & 2024 elections. The stimulus package passed both houses without a single GOP vote.
Death rate from Covid has come down dramatically, most of the at risk people have been vaccinated and so this is a low risk strategy for the GQP.

It is a failing of humans that is becoming all to apparent. One being simplistic of terms being selfishness.....
Thinking of themselves, not willing to suffer for an other. NOT paying their way, ever willing to allow others to make the sacrifices loss in comfort. From the feeling of and failing to paying ones tax appropriately, yet using all the benefits as a G*D given right, to allowing others to kick the virus @ss. By wearing a mask and getting vaccinated...
This is a failing not one effecting the republican party only, evidently at the core, a loved value of the party.

Employers will be requiring Covid-19 vaccinations to ensure workplace safety and this could be a game changer in the long run. Airlines and hospitality industry my also follow suit. So in the end, those refusing to get vaccinated will be subjected to what they so vehemently oppose, self quarantine. Small town bars and restaurants may be an exception.

California’s coronavirus case rate now the lowest in the continental U.S.

...because Repubes are pretty much extinct in statewide leadership here. Still plenty of Red areas, but they’re mostly rural, with low population density.

I have a pretty checkered past and lived a pretty wild youth. I am pretty sure I have put worse products and products of a more dubious origin than a CV vaccine into my body on several occasions. I am sure there are many in my boat and it is pretty hypocritical to have a past like that, then refuse a vaccine because of possible future unknown side effects.

I wish those anti vax'ers would remember why they never got polio, diphtheria and a few other things.
They had parents who were smart enough to vaccinate them when they were children.

The possible side effects stuff is just rationalization. They are refusing them because 'this is what you do if you belong to my tribe.'

Quoted from Rajoo: Employers will be requiring Covid-19 vaccinations to ensure workplace safety and this could be a game changer in the long run.
My nephew's place of employment has required all of their workers to be vaccinated. I think that is a good thing. I hope more employers do the same.
