The obvious gangs of radicalized idiots. So 'attempt' rather than 'execute' is surely correct. There may be some outrageous but scattered incidents. Attacks on public officials, etc. If they are more organized and competent that I expect, you might get an action like John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry. With similar results.

The military has physical power vastly exceeding that of any other possible actors in our rapidly-approaching end-game. As opposed to the gangs of idiots, the military has the power and competence to take over the country in a 'martial law' scenario. Now imagine Flynn showing up at the Pentagon with orders from Trump making him Secretary of Defense. If other leaders wanted the military to stay out of the election, they would have to tell Flynn they weren't taking orders from him. But his appointment in an 'acting' capacity would be perfectly legal (though his orders might not be). One way or the other, the military is suddenly in it up to its neck.

Speaking as a retired senior defense analyst, the already disgraced Flynn showing up under the above scenario would result in the Pentagon's normal SNAFU becoming a full blown FUBAR.

Could you elaborate? What would be the reaction of the Joint Chiefs and the rest of the Pentagon leadership? It's a huge bureaucracy that I assume is capable of dragging its feet when it wants?

What is different is these are NOT the Never Trumper types. These are people who have fully thrown their lot in with Trump but are legitimately worried about his receptivity to Flynn and Powell’s ideas and conspiracy theories. One month seems like an eternity in this context.
