Living a Sci-fi tale isn't quite what I imagined it would be.

I'm all for individual freedoms and stuff but some people ought not to be allowed to reproduce.

I dunno. With some people another shake of the dice is almost sure to be an improvement. Regression to the mean goes both ways.

Deadliest place in America: They shrugged off the pandemic, then their family and friends started dying
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ty/3828902001/
Quote:
As of Thursday, coronavirus has killed a higher percentage of Gove County residents than any other county in the United States: One out of every 132 people has died.
Trump won the county with 88% of the vote in November, and many of the residents, including the farmers who raise up corn and sorghum, are deeply skeptical of government and public health orders, often echoing the language Trump has used about mask-wearing and the pandemic's severity.

Idiot Trumpkins. They're paying bigly for their loyalty to #DiaperDon.

Pro-Trump Protesters Chant “Destroy the GOP,” Boo Georgia Senate Candidates at Rally
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/...ashington.html
Um, are they not aware that their cult leader is the figurehead of the GOP? Doh!

He's not done yet. he's going to try to destroy the USA, and make it Trumpistan. He will try to do it by force.

My greatest hope is that in his crash & burn he takes wide swaths of the GOP with him

In the right wing alternate reality he's no where near crashing and burning. If he's crazy or desperate enough to try an overtly violent Il Duce coup, and fails spectacularly, that may do it. But say after all the tough talk, he goes quietly, back to Mar-A-Lago, hunkering down and fighting his legal battles. His then remains cult leader of millions and millions, and absolute leader of his party (which evolved from the GOP and still bears its name). Echoing his wishes and personality, the GOP adopts scorched-earth obstructionism, attempting to sabotage the Biden administration in ways that make the Obama years seem bipartisan. Biden gets no cabinet unless McConnell picks it; nothing passes except what the Republicans want, otherwise utter government shutdown. This is assuming bad outcome in GA, but it will also be pretty crappy with a tiny majority in the senate. We've seen a taste of this policy already, with the Congressional Inaugural Committee deadlocked and non-functional.
Basically, with the attempted election overthrow, and the clear sabotage-the-country policy, the Trumpists have made clear they want 'no rules in a knife fight' government. The Dems should respond by kicking them in the balls. Use the constitution and rules to not seat the avowed seditionists in the next congress.

Just read this commentary on FB by Duante D Beddingfield, who thinks 'taking out the GOP is gonna happen:
Quote:
The only way this was EVER going to end. I’ve been saying it since summer 2016 - one way or another, this was gonna come to Trump burning down the party for “betraying” him, and he’d try to take them all out with him from sheer spite. I don’t know what they expected.
“The death of the modern Republican Party” is perhaps the most overused political phrase of the last two years, but I really believe that 1) we haven’t even begun to see the true death yet, but 2) we absolutely will by the time this is all over, and they have no one else to blame.
The audacity and ignorance of the party became its own downfall when it was no longer good enough to have half of America and they set their sights on a hostile takeover of the United States government. Their eyes got WAY bigger than their base and, giddy with what they felt was power, they cast their lot with a con artist known for cannibalizing his own and never, ever being a team player, and to be honest, even from the very beginning, they’ve had no control over the situation.
“You let Beetlejuice out, and DID not put him back.” When you communicate between dimensions and open a portal to Hell and summon a demon to destroy your enemies and do your bidding, you cannot feign surprise when the demon is more powerful than you and doesn’t give a shit about your petty grievances, and kills everything you love and tries to take over your dimension and claim it in the name of Satan and his children, and that’s what we’re watching right now.
This isn’t going to come down to a battle between Democrats vs Republicans. It’s going to be America vs Trump. And — if he miraculously stays out of prison — if he really wants to run again in four years just to prove he’s not a loser, watch for him not to be content to run independent, but to form his own, new political party to reap ultimate financial gains indefinitely, and watch him pull high enough numbers to get on the national ballot as what will essentially be the Fourth Reich.
If he does go to prison, his disciples remain and must be reckoned with as they continue to cry for blood. Even if you cut the head off, the body’s gonna continue thrashing for years. This isn’t over. These fuckers are trying to play the long game. I don’t think they’re smart or organized enough — YET — to pull it off, but that’s really up to how long we tolerate this shit.
//Flynn’s sister also attended and gave a hilarious rendition of “God Bless America” by forgetting the song’s basic lyrics./

Beddingfield elaborates with this synopsis of the Beetlejuice story:
Quote:
|
He’s a malevolent bully who haunts the house of people who are just trying to heal and move the fuck on. He’s a pedophile, an attempted rapist, a foul-mouthed, bragging snake oil salesman who neither delivers the product he promises nor repays his debts. He wrests control of a hotly contested home that doesn’t belong to him and torments people on both sides of the dimension from his control center there, including trying to force a marriage of convenience with a much younger woman who’s disgusted by him. And he thinks he’s some kind of entertainer and desperately craves an audience to applaud and reward his abuse. He’s Beetlejuice.
|
I think the parallels are amazing, and I'm going to call Trump 'Beetlejuice' from now on!
