Women overwhelmingly favor Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. They overwhelmingly supported Democrats in 2018, and President Trump’s advantage with White women has virtually disappeared in many polls. This week’s Republican National Convention explains exactly why: the stunning, stomach-turning lack of empathy among Trump Republicans.

Departing White House adviser Kellyanne Conway ghoulishly declared Thursday: “The more chaos and anarchy and vandalism and violence reigns, the better it is for the very clear choice on who’s best on public safety, and law and order.” In other words, the more death and suffering, the better for Trump. She said so without hesitation or shame. In an interview Thursday, Biden said succinctly of Trump, “He’s rooting for more violence, not less.”

White House advisers Jared Kushner and Marc Short mocked the African American athletes who go on strike to call attention to the string of unjustified police killings of African Americans. Kushner belittled statements from athletes as “slogans.” Short described the effort to rectify racism as “absurd and silly.” Rank injustice and the slayings of innocents, apparently, are undeserving of their concern.
